He was a member of the League, actually.

The basic idea of that generation of the League was rad, it was the younger heroes finally taking over. The League was led by Dick, Donna Troy and Mon-El. Cyborg and Starfire were members too.

    but the writing was

    not very good

    damian doesn't kill people though

i mean, he did, he killed one dude in Batman and Son and then he learnt not to

he gets character development! in superhero comics! it's awesome!

Actually he recently killed another dude

and he killed one in Batman Inc as well, but that was because it was either that or let Bruce die

DC Comics is basically the Grant Morrison Show for me at the moment

i mean i get there's other stuff and some of it's good but shit like that Question spoiler sours the whole lollipop

why in god's name can't you just do a good Question book? Vic Sage and Renee Montoya share the one identity, s/he's an androgynous metaphysical detective who solves crimes too abstract for the police, i will write it for fucking free

dang it blank i was trying to be coy about it

that moment was sort of a big deal in the latest batman and robin story

DC has a few bright spots but is currently pretty shitty overall, yeah

Here is the book that is about a post-apocalyptic alternate DCU that is launching less than a year after the brand new DCU that they insist isn't overtly grim or dark
    prv12253_pg1.jpg

also in this world? Batman kills people.

yes i know it's not as simple as my simplification
but when he kills the Spook he thinks he's king dick of partytown and when he kills Doctor Dedalus he is wracked with guilt

i don't know who the third dude he kills is i bow to Blank's superior Batmanology

    regardless, character development

oh yeah he has definitely had some great character development

    similar to what you said
he recently killed Nobody, the guy after him and bruce in the newest batman and robin book

and yeah he was pretty traumatized by doing it this time, so he's definitely progressed a lot as a character

Yeah letting the dude who ran Marvel into bankruptcy, oversaw the Clone Saga and was an editor at Jim Lee's Wildstorm launch the brand new modern DCU

    was a super shitty decision

Flashpoint was a world where the greatest superheroes never happened

this is a world where they happened but totally fucked up

    completely different

One thing I really like about Morrison's Batman

he never has an internal monologue if he is capable of actually speaking

the only time I remember him having one is the coffin scene of RIP

also yes, Robinson hasn't written anything great since Starman

let us invoke george costanza's greatest rule and do the opposite

instead of a world where everything is horrible and everyone is dead and superheroes are mopey and serious

a world where everything is great and everyone is happy and superheroes don't even really have to be superheroes, just run around having fun and being best friends

Because their companies didn't buy them for the comics. They bought them for the licensing.

one big problem with a lot of comics writers today is that they don't really understand the form

like, i was going through brightest day recently for whatever fucking reason and thinking, you know, some of these ideas aren't bad but the execution is terrible

whereas Morrison is a master of the form and that's why he knows voiceover is to be avoided at all costs

DC does have some good titles right now, though

Aquaman, Action Comics, Wonder Woman, Batman, Batman and Robin, Animal Man and Swamp Thing are all rad

Well see, I don't necessarily agree that it should be

    narration can work great

the writer just has to know how to properly use it

having it constantly be an outlet to have the character go I DON'T BELIEVE THIS PERSON or I AM SO ANGRY

    nah

but people like Scott Snyder use it to add depth to their stories in ways that dialogue can't really do
