What's that Movie: black sports car, explosions, parts, 80s?

All I really remember is that there was a black sports car that blew up, and I want to say that part of the car started glowing in the explosion, then vanished, and the car came back. Any ideas?

    First thing that comes to mind is The Wraith from 1986 starring Charlie Sheen.

    edit to add: I think the glowing parts you were talking about were braces that the titular wraith wore and disappeared as he killed the guys who were responsible for his death.
