Also someone posted the results of this qualifier online by trawling through game histories.

You can totally obfuscate this information (hide it) if tournaments wanted to since they already play on custom melee maps.

BeastyQT just beat some Korean protoss from Prime with a marine-thor-banshee build. The game went to 5 bases.

The funniest part is that he never got stim or medivacs.

Just got through watching that MMA interview from a couple pages back. Really cool guy, I'm glad to see him have success.

I love Immortals for this very reason. I can make two or three, and with a nice stalker wall in front of them, they'll clean up gobs and gobs of roaches.

Beastyqt has a three kill going on Prime right now. Unfortunately Creator is up next, so it looks like his run is going to end.

  • HozHoz Cool Cat Registered User regular
    He could beat creator.

    Creator is very unimaginative

  • mEEksamEEksa Registered User regular
It's possible but I don't see it happening. Creator is an absolute beast in PvT.

up until someone realised that he didn't know what the fuck to do if the Terran does something unexpected and, say, base trades.

Things Protoss needs to beat mass roach

    -Immortals
    -Stalkers
    -Sentries
    -No creep
    -Even or ahead on upgrades

Things Zerg needs to mass roaches
    -Roach warren

So, the general consensus is that 7RR is cheesy enough to be considered cheese, it seems like.

I guess I'll practice something else

How viable is a double robo Immo + Chargelot timing, Dhal?

  • mEEksamEEksa Registered User regular
Yep, pretty much expected that. It's crazy how fast Creator gets to 3/3 upgrades.

7RR is a great thing to be able to do. Pull it out in a tournament setting when you find yourself facing a player who plays very risky with his opening strategies.

Just don't plan to do it on every game. Because eventually you'll run into people who scout it easily and shut it down, and then suddenly you're losing left right and centre and don't know how to play any other way. A good rule of thumb, when doing lots of ladder games, is to do a cheese build every third game. This helps break up the stress of playing long, standard games, and also is handy for learning how to hold off cheese. If you do a cheese to someone, the next time you face that yourself you might have a better idea of how to hold it off.

it'd be more appropriate to compare warpgate down-time to larvae injects. Time that warpgates spend idle is never recovered, just like time that hatcheries don't have larvae eggs on them is never recovered.

Kind of like your energy is not recovered since I see your nexuses with 100 energy nubtoss.

I find this hard to believe considering even IdrA's queens usually go above 100 energy if the game goes on for more than 20-25 minutes.

edit: or maybe all of those platinum zergs are just winning with roach rushes and there's no time to build up any energy

I've always felt like 7RR was strictly inferior to 5rr or any of the 2 base roach timings

Any time a 7RR would do damage, a 5rr would too and it's more versatile

Also, I've lost 200/200 2-2 roaches to 140 supply 2-0 Blink Stalkers on creep enough times to call bullshit on that nonsense

They talk about never having seen this before, but PvP went through a phase where if you didn't get 4 gated, everyone just turtled up to max collosus + mothership.

I was waiting for Grubby to pull off a sick feedback on hasu's Mothership.

chargelot archon is a bit better because its more resilient to a zergling remax if they stop making roaches.
also takes less time to reinforce because archons can be warped in (sort of)

Didn't we just look at the result that early chronoboosts literally have as vast an effect as like completely changing your build.

Why are we pretending that doesn't echo through the game and its still okay to bank that stuff like its canned soup and bottles of water before Y2K?

I just want Protoss held accountable for their bloated stinking energy bars.
