so the pilot of this just aired and it's also been on iTunes and whatnot for a while
Grace and some Broadway guy want to make a show about Marilyn Monroe and then Pierce Hawthorne's stepdaughter and not-Kristen Chenowith want to be Marilyn Monroe and then songs happen
let's go down the list of ways that it isn't like that other musical show
1. it's about real working adults with non-bullshit problems and there's only one teenager and he's not a main character
2. it's not set in a high school but actually set on Broadway and it's about how totally cut-throat and competitive getting a show going is and not about who's getting the solo this week but oh my god Finn left he's our only hope wait he's back
3. it's created by Theresa Rebeck, who is not Ryan Murphy
4. the song-writing team behind Hairspray and other shows is doing original songs, which may be iTunes bait but at least they're original iTunes bait written by talented composers
5. NO
FUCKING
AUTOTUNE
also it's just a really well put-together show and the pilot is great and Grace is in it and you guys I want to
talk about this damn show

i'm sorry, i got nothin', but i'll try to watch it. will it be on Hulu?
oh, here. it's related. youtube!
Guy was great in Spooks, but man, they treated his character like shit. Not really seen him in anything else!
This not being like other musical shows sounds like a good reason to watch it. Any original songs, or do they cover things more than 2 years old (IE, things I may actually know)?
yes and yes, thus far
e: not to Raza Jaffrey I don't know who that is
Honestly, based only on pilots, Glee is more entertaining. But I think it would be difficult for Smash to fall from grace as quickly.
