KiTA, at the very least you'll want to get the weapons from the Invincible boss in the Steppe. +50% ATB Charge. It's basically like constant auto-haste.
Where can I find him at? Do I have to do anything to get him to spawn? Do I have to do the bonus bosses in order? Can I respawn them without having to re-do all of them, or do all of them first?
Once you've found all five red cactaur statues in the Steppe talk to either the leader of the hunters or the woman standing next to the sheep (I don't remember which gives which quest). The bosses can be fought again by leaving to the Historia, returning, and setting the weather to the one that makes the boss spawn.
I think the entire story just clicked for me after this explanation. Nice work.
No U
I could see the ultimate ending of the 13-2 saga being them falling back in time to the ending of 13-1... whereupon you have to fight a Paradox enhanced Orphan... and then kill off the Cie'th-afied versions of the FF13-1 cast. It would be just as bleak and tragic as the current ending.
What really pisses me off is the sheeple out there going "lol DLC Ending" because of what they're hearing in the gaming news media. It's got an ending, it's a glorious ending, and it makes perfect sense.
It's just not a typical Final Fantasy ending. It's a SMT ending, or perhaps a Warhammer 40k ending.
I'd buy ten copies of XIII-3 if it went this dark.
Instead of time-travel, we will now explore New Coccoon and Pulsehalla. Our means of travel will be Sazh of course. The story will, at least initially, be about removing Chaos from the planet and defeating the Fal'cie.
Given that Snow is alive, reviving Serah is going to be one of the major plot points.
Returning playable characters: Noel, Snow, Vanille, Fang. Monsters will be back somehow, and the game will just let you choose who to have as a human in your party.
Lightning is gonna end up becoming a full-on Goddess before the XIII saga is over. At most, she'll join the party late in the game.
Also, I haven't played any Dissidia games yet, but don't they pretty much take place in Valhalla?
Thinking on the story some more, I've a few more problems.
Exactly what is the purpose of Yeul's gift? She can see the future but is forbidden from acting on it (and if she acts on it she creates time paradoxes in any case), it triggers automatically and it shortens her lifespan. It is entirely worthless, no wonder Caius was so pissed off.

Fal'cie? They're dead. Been dead for a long time.
No, my theory about 13-3 would be:
It's Noel and Hope running around in the post-time crash world, trying to stabilize things while on the backend, Lightning has to do her part. Remember that Etro was sealing something really BAD away under her throne in that bigass crystal, which is likely why Lightning's on the throne now.
Also, I'm not sure that was Snow. At least, not the 13-1 Snow...
Consider:
He was a l'cie, he had the wrong color scheme, and he had a goatee. That was an alternate universe Snow that crossed timelines temporarily into ours. Remember, he vanishes when the paradox goes away -- he was a paradox effect.
Which leads me to my theory. 13-3's major plot will involve defending the post-time crash world against people and things from other, wildly divergent timelines that are in the new timeline-free world. Like, say, forces from an alternate universe where Pulse won the War of Transgression, not Cocoon. This would tie in with the FF13-1 datacore that basically spells out 13-2's plot.
And meanwhile, in the background, Caius is running around, trying to set up his perfect timeless world, which you'll also have to deal with.
As I'm playing through for fragments: (ending spoilers)
I finished yachas massif, I think 110AF, where you kill Ugallu. Noel says something to the effect of "if you realized there was no hope, would you just give up?"
Assuming you can finish this before the end of the story, I'm assuming that's intentionally subtle foreshadowing re:Lightning. Glad I did it in that order so I could appreciate it.
Oops! Realized last night that I completely forgot sentinels can maintain the chain gauge, so I finally started using one (silver chocobo). Even when he was lvl 1 it made one of the paradox endings much, much easier.
I'd argue that
this is exactly why Caius is so mad. He constantly laments about how shitty Yeul's fate is; it would make sense that it is also a completely unneeded fate.

From what I understand...
Before Etro fucked up and saved the heroes of FF13, Yuel's fate wasn't so shitty, as her lifespan only reduces when she looks forward in time. Paradoxes cause her to involuntarily look forward in time and die a little each time things change, and Etro intervening in time caused time to crack and the paradoxes to occur. If Etro hadn't messed up so bad, time would have been stable and the Yuels would have lived longer, provided they didn't abuse their power.
Yes, that means that Noel and Serah were actively causing the deaths of every Yuel in history by their actions.
There's a theory out there that suggests Noel and Serah are actually the villains of 13-2, with Caius as the overzealous hero. It's not entirely without merit.

It does have some merit.
Noel and Serah had the right idea, but with no knowledge of how time travel works in that universe they kept doing as much damage as they fixed. They might also have been running under the pretense that the timeline would be fixed as soon as they defeated Caius.
As for Caius, he's a character archetype I enjoy a lot. His goal is noble, but the way he proceeds to do it is horrible. And yet, I felt some sympathy for him and hope he switches allegiances before this saga is over. He could still fix a lot of the damage he has done.
My earlier comment about the Fal'cie is because at some point (I think when Snow's brand is brought up) a character mentions that Pulse Fal'cie haven't interacted with humans since Cocoon fell.
Good catch on the alternate Snow though. That still leaves the real one jumping through time, and I still think he'll have a role in the next game. Heroes always arrive late, after all.

I doubt there'll be a "next game". I think they're going to wrap it all up via dlc.
I figured the moment Snow just disappeared from the story when clearly a lot of important things were going on with him (how did he learn about time travel? How did he time travel at all? Whats the deal with his brand, etc.) that he was going to play majorly into "fixing" everything. And I still think that's the case.
We've been told we're going to get a Lightning, Snow and Sazh DLCs, at least. I suspect Lightnings will illuminate more of what she was doing in Valhalla and why exactly she chose to give up to Caius; she clearly had a plan. Sazh's will probably just be silly fun telling what went on with him ending up in Serendipity and getting out. Snows will probably be the DLC to "fix" the ending in the main game.
I suspect it's going to have something to do with the Fal'cie still being important despite the humans trying their damndest to do everything without them, thus why Snow has a brand.
And I suspect it'll still ultimately be bittersweet; maybe with Noel disappearing instead of Serah dying, once everything is "fixed".
So, under Extras, there's that one theme from having XIII data. I thought for sure there would be something for beating XIII-2, but apparently not.
Anyone hear anything about how to get the others?
Beat Raspatil on Normal difficulty, get all the fragments, get 5 stars on the final boss battle and platinum it. So if you're going for the platinum anyway, everything will unlock as you get trophies.
Re: Snow's FFXIII-2 backstory, they've said there's going to be a novel in Japan, have they actually said there'll be DLC?
They've confirmed a lightning POV DLC pack.
They've said they want to expand it with the other characters, but mentioned other media as an option. A movie, for example, and light novels are shit hot in Japan right now.
It really seems like they did some kinda "Design a dressphere" contest. Which I'm betting the festival, and psychic dresspheres for the international edition were the winners.

In the interview in the hardback Piggyback guide they ask a few questions about the different characters and while they say Sazh and some other stuff will be explained in DLC, when asked about Snow they say it'll be in a novel without any reference to a DLC pack. I'd rather DLC though cos, y'know, we might actually get to see that over here.
Synopsis: It's a game by the Chrono Trigger Director (who also did all the good remakes of SNES era FF games) and the artist of Ogre Battle / Final Fantasy Tactics, for the 3DS, with traditional turn based RPG gameplay, and Final Fantasy 5's class system.
Alternately, it's a sequel in spirit to 4 Heroes of Light, which could have been Final Fantasy 15 for as good as it was. I wouldn't have minded.
Also has some oddball AR system. Not sure what that's about.
If you're talking about the opening cutscene and Lightning gameplay, the first doesn't end anything like that.
It ends with a Leona Lewis song instead.
The opening just makes me real curious as to how they reach that point. Also, the sister is alive again for some reason.
Uh, Serah never died.
Also, we've got a new FF thread for a reason. Post in there.
Oh come on. She is initially perceived as dead early in the game.
Did you only play like 20 minutes of XIII or something? Because that's completely explained in-game, pretty early on as well. l'Cie's crystallise when they complete their focus but they do eventually wake up. How long it takes for them to wake up is completely up to the fal'Cie, which is why Lightning and Snow reacted the way they did. They had no idea if they'd ever see her again. If all crystallised l'Cie's were dead, then Fang and Vanille would be dead.
I think I am about a third of the way through the game. Still, right after Serah turns to crystal, they all think she is dead. The legend said that they gain eternal life, but you can tell that was suspected to be a myth. I am not saying that she died, but she was regarded as dead in the early part of the game.
Is there a trick to getting Chocobos (of any color) to spawn? I have to ask for the sake of my sanity. Right now I'm running around in Yaschas 110 and I've killed a grand total of 3 green ones and captured 0. That's 3 over the course of about 3 hours of searching. That's just ridiculous. Considering we're supposed to be able to use these for both combat and racing, I don't understand why they are so rare.
I've only encountered one purple one ever, and it destroyed my party cause when I came across it I was much too low of level. Have not managed to get another to spawn since.
is there anything I should know about this area and all the optional stuff or how much I should grind while I'm here or if I get a chance to come back later? I'm currently heading to the mission from the orange cie'th stone.
I would do missions 1-14 to unlock Chocobos and then move on. That will prepare you adequately, as well as get you enough steps to get the sweet, sweet cash from Pulsian Pioneer.
You can come back later, don't worry about missing anything. If you beat the game and load you will just appear at the final save point.
There are a couple points where there is no transit between points until certain story things are done with, but the game lets you know.

Well it makes roughly 0 sense said to Serah and perfect sense said to Noel... so...
I wish they kept the Matador job.

There was a fair amount of underwater combat in FFX. Why not have a dressphere just for that?

Looks like a cool game. But man they should have gone back to the drawing board on the name.
I'm absolutely certain it sounds cool as hell in Japan.
