I don't have the demo, and I think that all the wailing and gnashing of teeth on BSN over a couple days earlier access to a demo is really, incredibly whiny about something incredibly trivial, so if this is the extent of evil corporate shenanigans I say huzzah.
Playing soldier, complaining that it's not as good as Gears because there's freaky aliens as your bros instead of actual bros, then pausing to kiss the star-tat on his bicep after getting a sweet kill.

I only blame the stupid minigame for being a dick, it and it alone I hold responisble. Fuck you, datacores, right in flashy stuff.
"Grip 'em up, grip 'em, grip 'em good, said the Gryphon... to the pig."
Like I said, this isn't about me, personally, not getting an early access code. I'd feel like this even if I were playing the demo right now. I honestly think that BioWare's failure to inform about the early access delay on the 7th and their / EA's choice on how to distribute codes is just poor form. It's not about a demo, per se: it's about a company's attitude towards people. These just aren't the choices any respectable company that cares about how it treats its fans should act.
I imagine if Valve had done something like this, for instance, people would be upset, too. There are a few companies out there that have fans that hold them accountable for taking their eye off of the prize (the prize being their fans). I'd like to think that BioWare was one of those companies, but I guess not? I guess they can do no wrong?
Besides, you guys are all blowing my words way out of proportion. When did I say BioWare was the new space Hitler, or that this was literally the end of the world? I'm just saying more people should be telling them "hey, try to remember not to do stupid things, ok?".

nah because valve fans are a patient lot and don't have a meltdown over two days difference
maybe the company is busy finishing up the game instead of worrying too hard about the most trivial slight against its fans it could ever hope to commit

Well. I think most fans are fine waiting 3 days. I mean it's a nice little bonus but not a big deal. Heck, I'm actually more excited for the MP demo than the SP one(since the weapon cooldown makes it not as fun) and I don't play that 'til friday.
Would I like to play it earlier, sure. Is it a big deal, no...not really.
Bioware has a good attitude toward its fans because it's offering a demo in the first place, which ME1 did not have at all and ME2 didn't have until well after release
you're complaining about the frosting being mushed a little on one side of your cake
*sigh* Why did I even post... I'm alt-tabbing back to TOR. I'll let you all get back to your regularly scheduled discussion. Sorry for having a slightly negative opinion of something. -_-;

You can have your negative opinion. But the thing about opinions is that people might not agree with them.
Like I said in my double post. If there hadn't been an early release we wouldn't even be having this conversation. I doubt Bioware has a list of every fan of their games. So the fairest thing to do is to have a raffle instead of giving certain people super special treatment.
Also, since it was XBL only there was probably some collaboration with MS.

The same Valve which has been silent on the future of the Half-Life series for 5 years? Is this the Valve we're talking about? I love Valve, but c'mon.

You just seem to be overreacting about something really insignificant, and have the misfortune to remind of all the histrionic posts on Bioware's forums, like this one:
TO CHRIS PRIESTLY: AND TO EVERYONE AT BIOWARE!!!
I BOUGHT THE ME:3 (CE) DIGITAL - BACK IN SEPTEMBER OF 2011!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
AND YOU CAN'T EVEN GIVE ME THE PRIVILEGED TO ENJOY THE EARLY ACCESS TO THE DEMO!!!
WHERE ARE YOU NOW BIOWARE? WHERE ARE YOU ON LISTENING TO THE FANS WHO'VE BEEN WITH YOU SINCE ME:1???????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!
YOU "SUPPOSEDLY" RESPOND TO "FANS" BUT I WANNA KNOW WHY "LOYAL" FANS HAVE NOT GOT A RESPONSE????!!!! TO THE EARLY ACCESS!!!
.......BF3: PLAYERS GET PRIVILEGED??
WHAT ABOUT LOYAL MASS EFFECT FANS!!!!!!!!!!!!???????????
I think their demo being much later than planned and this early access thing getting a bit bungled and Casey Hudson looking like a zombie are probably signs that they're working to the bone trying to keep on schedule and get this game out to us on time. I doubt it is disregard or neglect or EA's intervention or any of that, and reflexively leaping to that conclusion seems a bit silly to me.
Also they gave us a femshep trailer, so c'mon.
Edit: Is Dragkonias going to quad-post after me, too? Stay tuned to find out.

Also...I guess it's because I have "dudebro" friends but I kind of find it pretty ironic how judgmental some people can be. Especially people who the general populace probably thinks have weird/childish hobbies anyway. Who are you do say a dudebro cannot enjoy Mass Effectin'.
Why I roll my eyes at how people overreact at Vega.
If anything I think we should spread the love of Mass Effect far and wide.
I will not rest until everyone reads my Shepard/Tali fanfics!

I just saw the Shadow Broker's security footage of Khalisah Bint Sinan al-Jilani getting punched out by a Krogan for the first time. It made my night.
nah see it's fine to have a negative opinion, for example I think it's lame that the demo forces you to carry four weapons and therefore gimps your cooldowns
but I don't claim that as proof that Bioware does not care about its fans or they've "become EA's bitch"

Psshhh...quite frankly I do!
The fact that Bioware released a weapon pack that wasn't just shotgun pisses me off. We all know Vanguard fans are the best fans. I mean I had 3 different weapons that weren't a shotgun...I was utterly confused.
Just to be clear... What files do I need, exactly, to transfer my character from ME2 PC to ME3 PC? Just a .pcsav file?
I remember that ME1 had separate files for your save and your actual character. Did they do away with that for ME2? Because I don't see anything else.
I'd archive and transfer your whole save folder to be safe. But yeah, as far as I can tell it's just .pcsav files now.
Thanks. I've done that, it's not like it takes up a lot of space. Just don't want to uninstall ME2 only to find out that there was a player profile hanging out in the main directory or something.
Waiting ~half a week for full demo access (the PC multiplayer unlocks on Friday, right?) and 3 weeks for the full game is nothing compared to that.
I've heard we can't import for the demo (which is fine), so all I'm probably going to do is give the multi a whirl and wait for the full thing. Okay, and watch the opening sequence, if that's included.
That said, I'll be out of the country until midnight on the 6th, and decided to splurge on the fastest shipping Amazon has (no, Canadians don't have access to Amazon Prime >.< ), so all I have to say is that if it's not waiting for me on my desk on the 7th, I may or may not cry in a corner in a manner most unbecoming a management database admin.
Really, there will be tears.

Oh yeah, I asked about this is in the last thread but never really saw an answer for it.
If I used the Gibbed save editor to modify an ME2 save to make it my proper canon Shepard, then am actually using that save right now, will that save transfer properly to ME3? Because I saw a mention of the Gibbed editor just messing with debug values and how that probably wouldn't carry over to ME3 from and ME1 save.
Is there any chance that those values will become permanent if I complete this current ME2 run or would I just be boned on having a canon Shep until a save editor for ME3 rolls around.

early-access codes are just a way to generate extra hype for the demo, and giving them out randomly is the fairest way to do it

Because I kind of want to find that hypothetical person and spoil major game events at them.
And honestly the demo did little to curb my appetite for the full game. If anything it made my craving worse.
Truly, a double-edged sword.
