The new forums will be named Coin Return (based on the most recent
vote)! You can check on the status and timeline of the transition to the new forums
here.
The Guiding Principles and New Rules
document is now in effect.
The current plan is to attempt to start the Holiday Forums on December 23rd sometime during the day. During this time, the Future State Planning Center will remain open. The Holiday Forum merge will last (if Vanilla cooperates) until January 3rd.

This is a load of shit if i've ever heard it.
Also, loss is the new profit.
Sony logic, ya know.
I'll go with Homy.
Sony Homy.
Of course the word Homie is spelled wrong. It's cool.
What was that guy from Joystiq that expounded asshatery to the point where Gabe and Tycho commented on him?
But a lot of the time, it seems like Sony works their decisions according to some alien, non-Euclidean system of logic. Maybe they think it is, or can't tell the difference, or don't care.
I SEE SQUIRRELS!
Seeing as you intend to respond to tongue-in-cheek dicking around with a denouncement with no supporting arguments, I shall be likewise unhelpful: Shit typically isn't noticed through your ears. More through your eyes and nose.

Considering the nature of hte conversation mentioned in the news post, it certainly seems like an NDA wasn't involved.
I believe the saying goes, "All publicity is good publicity." Which isn't necessarily true.
But when you're talking about a $599 videogame system it just isn't the case. Nobody's going to drop that amount of money just to see if all the bad press is deserving, as might be the case with spending $10 to go to the movies. The idea of there being no such thing as bad publicity just can't be applied to Sony's current state of affairs.

Also, I don't read Kotaku thinking in my head "Wow, these guys are sure good with news!" but rather, I read just to see whats going on and what the bloggers have to say. Anyone thinking a blogger needs a journalistic backing to be legitimized is thinking about blogs all wrong.
Just when I think their incidents can't get any more ludicrous, they do.
Without getting into a big thing about blogs, I think you're the one thinking about them all wrong. Blogs aren't the 'livejournal-lites' they were a few years ago. Now sites like Kotaku like to hide behind the 'were just a blog!' banner, when that's what they are in name only.
Whats wrong with not taking them seriously? If blogs become entrenched in our mindsets as journalists, and then blogs because journalistic, then we don't have blogs anymore. All we have is what we began with.
But that's a discussion for another thread.
-edit- Dammit, that is such a strawman, Karf. You should know better.
I'm going to go off myself behind the Halo 2 thread.
Excuse for shitty journalism. That's all they are. To me, anyway.
A news story should be as level-headed and professional as possible. On a blog, the writer can put in as much bias and personal opinion as they like under the idea that it's just a blog and an opinion.
At Sony's E3 press conference, nobody like IGN or 1up called it shitty or anything - they'd call it a poor showing or something at most, whereas on places like Joystiq and Kotaku it was crap like SONY E3 DEBACLE and MOTION SENSING RIPOFF and it was just terrible and stupid and damn annoying. I really hate it. Blogs? Fine.
These huge blog networks and giant block sites with about 50 staffers can eat a dick. They're not blogs at all.

i mean, yeah, they post a lot of fluff. but i catch a lot of stuff first on there.
YEAH, The white house is really shakin' in its boots after banning certain media from entering their press conferences.
Oh wait.
No one says you can't get information from them, it's just not recommended that you take them seriously.
The "Never piss off the media" only works when you need their reader base to buy your products.
Unlike a real news site, they don't have a rigorous editorial process. Any of the contributors can post what they like. They never try to hide this fact.
If one of the contributors sees something funny while walking down the street in Akihabara, they will post it. If someone makes a cool gaming-related cake, they will post it. If they see a funny game-related video on YouTube, they post it. If they play a game, they post their impressions.
If someone sends in a rumour, it will get handed to Crecente, who will verify it and post it if it seems valid.
It's not a full-blown news site, because the content is much more raw and varied. However, that's what makes it fun.
Problem with that statement is that if you piss off the reader base of one place, chances are they won't give a shit at the other outlets either.
When has Kotaku wanted to be taken seriously?
A site is only as popular as the size of it's reader base. By correlation, pissing off Kotaku pisses off its readers. Yes, they COULD go somewhere else for their news, but considering their (the readers) favorite site just outed them (sony) for such dickery, it becomes doubtful they'll go to other places for "Good " Sony news.
Not to mention their advocacy for Motorstorm.
But it is just another notch in the hole sony is digging.

Edit: Which isn't to say that other major news sites won't decide to turn this around on Sony and shit on them. If that's the case, well, Sony is truly boned.
Hahaha. Nice
edit: and if I were Crecente, I'd show up to those events drunk.
Man, there should be. It'd probably be as long as that list of things that have happened in current events since DNF was announced.
