Akai LCD TV and Universal Remotes

So, I bought my mom a new TV. It's a 27 inch Akai LCD TV. It's what she wanted. Anyway, I've got it all set up and working, however her beloved universal remote would not work with it. So, I go forth, and get a different remote, however this one does not work either. I repeat this process 3 more times, with different brands, and receive the same result. I'm hoping that on some long shot that someone else has an Akai TV and has found a universal remote that works with it.

Well, I own the 46" Akai DLP... but it came with a universal remote...

Have you tried looking up a remote code for your set? (Most likely somewhere in the manual)

Yeah, I set up each of the remotes as suggested by the manufacturer, with their codes. I wish mine had come with a universal, that what I get for buying a small one!

The only advice I have is to buy one of those fancy logitech remotes - that you can program by pointing the original remote at it. They're really slick.

also, you probably figured this out already, but Logitech isn't the only brand that makes these, so you can probably find a cheaper one if you want.
