I'm working on a Dragonborn Tactical Warlord, but I'm not going to get it posted tonight. If I put my character up and get chosen for the game, could I make some tweaks later? I've never played a Warlord before, and would like to get some advice on the build after I've finished it.

Less than 24 hours left to submit an application to those that are interested. Some people had expressed interest, but have yet to post an app (I'm looking at you @Hensler, @Anialos, @Faraz and @Steelhawk).
Without other submissions, two of the roles look to be on lockdown.

Benn, level 11

Human Power Selection Option: Bonus At-Will Power
Occupation - Military (+2 to Athletics)
Theme: Guardian
FINAL ABILITY SCORES

Benn has had enough of war. War has not yet had enough of Benn. After over two decades of fighting in the civil war that ripped the land apart, he was finally ready for some rest. Rest that would not come. When the strange creatures attacked the small village he was staying in, all he could do was sigh and pick up his swords. Out there, somewhere, is the source of this mess. He will help to save this strange world, if only so he can finally rest.
Benn is not exactly a handsome fellow, although in his younger days it was quite a bad idea to inform him of this fact. What he lacks in looks, he more than makes up for in physical ability. Raw muscle and grit, Benn has kept the short haircut of his military duty. The attitude of never surrender, never quit, never leave a man behind has also stuck. If anyone needs to stay behind and hold the enemy, Benn is always first to volunteer. He also like to be the first into the fray, mocking the enemy and knocking them about the battlefield.
His Katars are visible on his side in whatever clothes he may wear. They are as much a part of him as the hands he holds them with. His armor is a simple suit of chainmail, its magical properties masked by its plainness.
Misc: Currently in four PbPs here on the boards. The lair assault is in the last room, and the lvl 0 Lookouts experiment Denada is doing seems to be at the last battle as well. My other two games are Zephyr and Revolutions: Arcane.

Blargh. Stupid work is taking too much of my time this week. Although I would have time to actually play the game and do want to play, my lack of CB and my lack of experience in general with paragon tier is going to mean I can't get anything worthwhile in before the submission deadline.
Sorry dresdenphile, and good luck- I'll keep an eye on the game at least

The application period has ended. Selections and IC post incoming soon.
Kavan Stonefist was the product of a violent Orc raid on small mining village. Abandoned at birth by his disgusted human parents, Kavan was rescued and adopted by the members of the Stonefist Monastary. The Monastary was an isolated place, located at the very peaks of the mountain range, a harsh locale whose toughness was bred into its members. Kavan, always angry as a child due to his abandonment turned that anger inwards, becoming as hard and unyielding as the mountains in which his lived and trained.
Spending his youth and young adulthood ranging across the mountain peaks, Kavan became strong and powerful. He lone battles against entire clans of Orc, his midnight vigils atop the very peaks of the mountains, his descent into innumerable caves to seek out evil and punch it in face...it has all become legends for the young of the Monastary to aspire to.
Now there is a new evil out there. And Kavan Stonefist has been called forth.

To those who I didn't select, I hope you follow the thread, and if someone has to bow out, I will keep you on reserves.
To the party, while I get the IC thread going, please give yourself an Expertise feat of your choosing (if you already have such a feat, add another feat of your choosing instead) and update your sheet accordingly.
Also, some combat/initiative rules:
***Your combat blocks should look similar like this (below is just an example in terms of powers and actual numbers):
Fred's Turn
Move Action: F4 to C9 (provoking OA from Orc 2)
Standard Action: Cleave - Str vs AC (Orc 1, AC: 17),
Minor Action: Nature's Wrath - Enemy 1 marked by PC
SUMMARY
* PC is now in C9
* Orc 2 gets an Opportunity Attack on PC
* Orc 1 takes 18 damage (7 HP remaining)
***Initiative will be handled in "clusters." When you're cluster comes up, anyone in the cluster can go, regardless of their actual initiative roll. For example, if initiative looks like this:
A
B
C
Enemy
Enemy
D
E
Enemy
A, B, or C can go. After all three of them go, two enemies go. Then, D or E can go. Once they both go, it's the next enemy's turn. I want to do this to keep the game moving along. With that in mind, if you have powers that have lasting effects, be mindful if you have used those benefits or not (you can't delay your turn to keep reaping positive benefits, for example).

Hurray double Wizard party, I'm not sure if I'd have felt worse not getting in or knocking Aegis out.
Extra feat is also cause for rejoicing, I always want more of 'em
Is mildly funny: we have two wizards, but no rituals between either of us because both of our wizard sub-classes eschew rituals in favour of other things!
Couple questions for dresden:
* Do you care/prefer actions being contained within spoilers or would it be fine to grey out & italicize actions so they're distinct from IC stuff?
* What's your stance on the Mage Hand + Tome Expertise interaction? I honestly only found out about it after I made my character (and really only picked Mage Hand because "Shit, I have one more cantrip left to pick and...to hell with it, Mage Hand you win") and could swap it if you'd prefer.
dresdenphileWatch out for snakes!Registered Userregular
1) I'd prefer spoilers.
2) Wow, that's the first I've heard of that combo. You can either keep Mage Hand and not gain the CA bonus implied by the interaction, or you can just trade Mage Hand out for something else.

Woot! I will update the sheet tonight. Aegis - any chance our guys ran into each other in the cold north?
You are all aware of the other's existence, as you all played various roles in the war (but it's up to you to decide how well you know each other, if at all).
The common war effort background sounds like a good excuse to add a fancy title! "Mage-Captain" has a nice ring to it.
If anyone wants to have known each other during the war I'm in favor of the idea, my character motivations for joining the war effort would be pretty obvious: as a mage Leth is philosophically opposed to "injustices... to those with arcane power" and accepted an officer's commission to fight for the cause.
Any details with regards to the unit or action I'm cool with whatever, I'm thinking kind of a laid back implicit trust relationship like Mal & Zoe from Firefly.
Edit: WRT Rituals I had actually completely forgotten about them, I imagine the distinction is just because Essentials doesn't mention Rituals at all and not some kind of balancing factor between PHB Wizard and Essentials Wizard.
If I can get meaningful rituals with the 500g I have left over I'll grab Ritual Caster with the bonus feat, but that sounds unlikely, lol.
On the plus side I can cast Planar Portal (due to a paragon path feature) and at level 12 I can open Linked Portals as a standard action, so teleporting rituals will be covered at least no matter what.

Yea, the fact that it applies to conjurations as well causes some interesting effects, for instance, that a shaman with it can have their spirit companion generating CA all the time.
Swapped it out for Prestidigitation and grabbed Improved Defenses with my bonus feat, updated sheet here. Also I remembered that orokos doesn't like displaying familiars, so here's the stat block for the cute little thing that will be following Halad around:
Breeze (Maridan)
Speed 6, swim 6
Constant Benefit Aquatic
You and the maridan can breathe underwater. In aquatic combat, you gain a +2 bonus to attack rolls against nonaquatic creatures.
Active Benefit Gift of Water
When you use an arcane daily attack power, each enemy adjacent to the maridan is slowed, and you (if you are adjacent to the maridan) and each ally adjacent to it gain partial concealment. These effects last until the end of your next turn.
Elemental Conduit
Once per encounter, you can use your familiar's space as the origin for a close arcane attack power.
Woot! I will update the sheet tonight. Aegis - any chance our guys ran into each other in the cold north?
Probably, if you stopped by any towns on your way south. Halad would have been moving around fairly regularly, but not too fast as to only stay in a place for a few days. Your guy appears to be the hunting sort so if you provided guiding services for hunters it's likely we could have run the same job now and again and eventually come to develop a rapport.
Though, he'd probably view your connection to the Primal realm dismissively and, if your barbarian is prone to bring it up often in conversation, possibly something that would provoke quick arguments.
AegisFear My DanceOvershot Toronto, Landed in OttawaRegistered Userregular
As for Halad's motivation, I'd be in Leth's camp as well in terms of why I bothered fighting. Though in my case, it'd be done out of self-preservation more than any kind of perception of trampling injustice: Halad's intimately aware of his arcane prowess and what he has to do to siphon off pour from the Elemental Chaos to fuel his magics in the pursuit of his goals and any perceived threat that would stamp out people like him would rightly piss him off.

Wahey! I've been wanting to try this build for a while now.
Kera was most likely politically interested in the war, so she would have served in a covert role (read: assassinations) which might have gained some notoriety.
Doubt she'd have rubbed shoulders with any sellswords, but she would certainly know of them. Knowing things about stuff is kind of her thing.
edit: also fiddled with some magic items to squeeze out a little more defence, since monks aren't known for their high defences or anything
Davos was a prominent member of a well-regarded (though now defunct) mercenary company during the war, and so could have popped in and out of any number of situations to interact with the other players.
He and your character, Pallington, could have fought both with and against each other over the course of the conflict. For example.
EDIT: Sheet Updated. Already had Heavy Blade Expertise, so I took Avenging Spirit as my bonus. One of those feats you hope never to have to use.
I assume that, despite it being a secret cult, some mention of Kera's exploits might have leaked out to those who were paying attention. Enough, at least, for Davos to know that she seems to like books. If that's silly, let me know.

No that's fine. In fact, 'The Librarian' is a pretty cool spy name.

Hmm, on the Ritual front, the Wizard multiclass feat Learned Spellcaster grants the Wizard Ritual Caster feature (which is Ritual Caster + some free rituals). Normally you are prohibited from taking your own class' multiclass feats, but dresdenphile do you care if I did?
Follow up question if that's ok: guys what are the good rituals? In the past 4e games kinda ignored them (we'd travel at the speed of plot, and so on), I mean, should I get Raise Dead?
Or should I just not care and get some numbers++ feat?
Well if dresden is cool with the "mage multiclasses wizard" I'll take a look through the massive list of rituals and if there are a few that look useful I'll go with the idea. And if not I'll get Improved Defenses or whatever.
Oh and since Aegis pointed out familiars aren't listed on the sheet for whatever reason, I'm using a Coure Attendant from Dragon 390,
Coure Attendant Familiar Sometimes, the courtiers of the Court of the Stars honor promising
arcanists by serving as their squires or handmaidens. In
familiar form, these noble eladrin resemble miniature versions
of themselves, but with long, gossamer wings sprouting from
their shoulders. Senses low-light vision
Speed 6, fly 8
Constant Benefits
You gain a +2 bonus to Arcana checks.
Once per round, you can retrieve or store an item as a free
action instead of a minor action. Active Benefits
Feylight Form: Once per encounter as a minor action, the
coure attendant can assume the form of a twinkling ball of
light. While in this form, it gains a +2 bonus to all defenses
and sheds dim light within 2 squares. Enemies that start
their turns within the dim light shed by a coure attendant
in feylight form grant combat advantage to you. It can
return to its normal form as a free action.
Her name is Meriele, she's feisty and she knows Feylight Form!
Edit: I should probably refresh the IC thread from time to time, lol.

If you are going rituals, Comrade's Succour is universally well-regarded given its use in evening out healing surges.

I'm fine with that. Can you not just take Ritual Caster as a feat? I've not had that come up at the table.

The Wizard class feature gives you free rituals (3 at lvl 1, 2 at levels 5, 11, 15, 21 and 25). I could take Ritual Caster but not be able to actually afford any rituals without shuffling things around, lol.

AegisFear My DanceOvershot Toronto, Landed in OttawaRegistered Userregular
Don't think it works like that. Wizards get bonus rituals from the Arcanist Spellbook class feature, not Ritual Caster. Learned Spellcaster should only give you the ability to use rituals and not free ones.
Huh, wow, you're right. Oh whatever then, clearly Planar Portal is all we need! From its description it can also work as Linked Portal, so we're fine on local travel, too.
Allrighty, updated. Karis would not have been directly involved in the war, but she and her order would have likely offered sanctuary to the wounded of either side. She would also have been involved protecting any innocents from getting caught in crossfire/pillaging sprees/privateering. Its possible she may have even helped out Davos after he took that lance to the gut.
