Yes, I am ashamed to admit this but I really don't know how to simply pop a dvd into my dvd drive and watch it on the computer. I have VLC and when I hit load disk from the drive nothing happens so please, enlighten me.

    Just get MPlayer Classic and your problems are solved.

    File-->Open DVD-->profit

    I'm not sure about windows, but in OS X, VLC has File -> open disc.

    Does Windows not come with a proper DVD Player? Howabout Windows Media Player?

    To play DVD's in WMP you need a DVD decoder, which aren't included.

    VLC has almost always worked for me when I'm trying to play DVDs without any special software or DVD decoders.

    I'm sure you've tried both DVD(menus) and DVD, but how long are you waiting? I've had some pretty long DVD boot ups with VLC.

    It was the exceptions which made me break down and purchase a decoder for WMP. I like VLC for everything else though.

    On that note, how many DVDs have you tried JellyMeetsJam? What kinds of DVDs are you trying? So on, so forth.

    Uh honestly only one (Amores Perros) so now I feel even dumber. I'll try messing around with some other dvds and MPlayer classic and get back to you guys.
