Beware the MADNESS of MARCH [BRACKETOLOGY]

Every year around this time, the country goes mad for something...COLLEGE BASKETBALL. Work production slips while people discuss their brackets with each other. Enough money changes hands to feed every hungry person in the world for the rest of their lives (CITATION REQUIRED)
So every year I make this thread an set up the brackets on ESPN.com and some people join and we pick some teams and it's all fun soooo let's do it again.
I'm trying to remember who won last year...I think it was...oh yeah, it was ME! CAN YOU DETHRONE THE CHAMPION*?
*probably
NOW FOR THE BUSINESS
Get in on the excitement of this year's NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament. Compete against other fans as you fill out a bracket and earn points for every correct pick! Come out on top and you could win a $10,000 Best Buy gift card. Get a group together and earn plenty of bragging rights amongst your friends by winning it all. Best of all, it's free to play and win.
I concur with Kentucky being the favorite. I also like Ohio St., Baylor, and North Carolina. I do agree with Indiana being the hottest team right now, though.
The most interesting team in the tourney might end up being IU. They beat almost all of the top teams this year.
Except they won all those big games at home. If they can figure out how to win on the road, sure, they can go far, but until then they're just an interesting team that won't make it past the Sweet 16.
Also, how bout that UCLA scandal? Really pulling out all the stops to bury this team right now.

I don't think IU is going to win it all, they are just a very interesting team because they have shown they can beat the big boys.
(Have you read this yet @Lord Dave? It's so incredibly frustrating, I'm still pushing that we fire the Athletic Director first.)
If Howland goes, the AD basically has to go, which is why you're seeing Guerrero try to push off making any decision about Howland until after the season. The biggest problem is the Chancellor doesn't care about athletics, which means he could conceivably keep Guerrero despite him hiring his 3rd football coach and potentially second basketball coach. That never happens in college athletics.
(Remember a few years ago when one guy did like 6 brackets? :? )

Usually everyone does one but if people want to do a second bracket for shits and giggles it's fine. It's not like there are any actual prizes. If there were it would be one per person.
I know I will only be doing one and I recommend people only do one but I can't stop people from doing multiple.

it is laughable that the big 12 apparently decided that at least 2 coaches were better than haith this year. the dude lost his best player in the preseason, and then proceeded to roll through everyone en route to a 27-4 record in which he was dealing with a 7-man rotation that included a whole two players taller than 6'6 or so.
i guess this is just another in a long line of instances of the big 12's sour grapes about missouri leaving for greener pastures.
I can't sign up at work but I'll do it at home one night this week. I'll stick with my patented "pick winners based on whether the school is in a state you like" followed by "do I like the school colors mix well into a tropical sno-cone"

Just you wait, before too long the madness of college basketball will hit you and you will murder a group of random strangers in a bloody rage.
And that is a competely dispassionate prediction based upon sophisticated analytical methods.
or as I like to call it
"why is every single computer in the library taken up by people watching basketball"

At least that's what I read in the paper yesterday. I don't follow college hoops until the tournament which means my brackets always suck.

I'm going to do what I did last year and make a coin-flip bracket. Heads means lower seed wins, etc.
Last year I almost had LIU win it all, but the coin landed on heads and Duke ended that dream.
This is Michigan's year!
(they won't win it all, but I think they've got a decent chance to go further than expected)
For those interested, here's the volatile article: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/vault/article/magazine/MAG1195501/1/index.htm

(I don't really follow college basketball anywhere near enough to do well in brackets, and I've followed it even less than usual this year. Woo.)

Is that a new rule or did we do that last year?

Yeah, it's a bummer
I'm all for getting rid of Guerrero asap
Also Reeves is dead to me for breaking my boy Keefe
Though my interest in this season thus far has been pretty negligible, so I'm not expecting anything good to come of it.
Anyway, I'm just hoping UCF gets tapped for the tournament; we haven't had the best season, but we did beat the reigning national champs.
Has to count for something, hopefully.
So do two other teams!

Hey, I succumbed to the madness that year. It only took a few years and several thousand dollars with a psychiatrist, but now I'm better!
My school didn't even make its conference tournament and Texas might not be in the field, so I won't really have a rooting interest this year.
