if you died in the hammerhead you were doing something wrong. Like driving the Hammerhead.
if you died in the mako it's because you weren't good enough.

    nope
the mako's designer should be shot, hung, drawn, quartered, the remains burned, the ashes spread across the galaxy

the hammerhead is fast enough that if you get shot to death, it's your fault for staying in range of the enemy, or for not killing the enemies quick enough

I doubt they will, but you'd think the vorcha could get a little respect in the reaper war.

I mean they procreate fast, grow up fast, are too stupid to have morale problems and can live like rats. Alliance troops need food and bases and complex technology. Vorcha seem like they'd probably just scavenge mold off of toilet bowls to survive, they can heal basically by themselves, as long as they've got the space equivalent of AK-47s they can keep fighting basically forever.

The Yahg, the Vorcha, and the Rachni team up to defeat the Reaper threat.

Then eat and/or kill the rest of the galaxy.

Reapers try to liquify the Vorcha.

Vorcha reform in the tubes, smash them from the inside, and get feces everywhere.

Reapers decide to go with humans instead.

I'm now picturing a Mass Effect spinoff children's cartoon where a bumbling Reaper keeps trying and failing to get rid of the lovable yet mischievous Vorcha infesting a Reaper base.

I will bring this fight out of spoilers

the hammerhead is a flimsy piece of crap

anything that can die in three shots to one geth trooper is unsuitable as an infantry transport
    Pretty much yeah

it was too floaty and too goddamn fragile

it had a nice gun and was fast but I would rather have slow and durable over fast and delicate

    you people

    you people

if you died in the hammerhead it's entirely your fault for not getting out of range of the enemy or killing them quick enough

if you died in the mako it's because the vehicle fought you every step of the way

it looks like (very minor me3 spoilers)
there won't be any vehicles at all in 3

With the success of the Grizzlies, the civilian-grade VT7 was introduced minus the antenna and turret. The VT7s were painted brown with orange highlights.

oh my god. the Grizzly was basically a Future Hummer

the hammerhead can take plenty of hits

the mako can take more but the hammerhead can take enough to get shit done

the mako's designer should be shot, hung, drawn, quartered, the remains burned, the ashes scattered across the galaxy, given no proper funeral

I was hoping that ME3 would have a vehicle that combined the wonky controls of the Mako with the tissue-paper fragility of the Hammerhead, just so the debate between the two could be combined into a united hatred for the M-98 Jump-N-Squish Theoretically Armored Jumping Personnel Carrier.

  • -Tal-Tal Registered User regular
the worst thing about the Hammerhead is no saving or checkpoints on missions

so when that one fucking geth trooper kills you in two seconds from a million miles on casual you have to restart the whole thing

it's just, call me crazy, I expect what is essentially a tank to take a few hits for me while I deal with an enemy

isn't that the basic definition of a tank

the one thing the hammerhead has over the mako is a snappy AI.

that thing has some good lines in overlord.

Also you didn't have to drive it much.

    So that's good.

However, you could skate park an entire planet with the mako. I once did what appeared to be a 360 kick flip off a mountain. I died but it was awesome.

Mako was also easier to snipe with.

  • BlankZoeBlankZoe Registered User regular
The only time I ever fought the Mako was when I was trying to climb up terrain

    during combat it was fine

hell I was jump jetting over rockets and sniping dudes with the main cannon from a mile away

the mako is the only vehicle i've driven where you can be going in a straight line on a level surface and it will bounce up, flip in the air, and land upsidedown

it gets caught on terrain, i've died more than once with it stuck upside down on an overhang on noveria

  • Kuribo's ShoeKuribo's Shoe Kuribo's Stocking North PoleRegistered User regular
remember how the main gun was on one of the bumpers so nobody knew about it because they didn't read the manuals they so wistfully pine for nowadays

    ah, memories

I love how everyone hated the mako at first and then everyone lauded the hammerhead for being fast and jumpy and now apparently the hammerhead is awful and the mako is best?

ram a guy with the Mako on insanity

he flies to the other end of the map, gets back up, and starts charging you with his infinite ammo gun

see, this is the thing: if you can't learn to roll with the unwieldy controls it's going to come across as fighting you. you gotta let it run a little wild, find the points in uncontrolled bouncing to let off the gas or fire the boosters. it's quite fun if you get the hang of it.

    let me be clear

I have always liked the mako, and I have never liked the hammerhead

I am what some would call "a contrarian prick" however

    let's get this straight

both vehicles are awful in combat

but the Hammerhead is more fun to drive

Yes because everyone has one group opinion

I didn't like the hammerhead much at all ever! I only played the DLC like a month and a half ago

Never minded the Mako much either outside of flying off of a mountain I was trying to climb

    Mako > Hammerhead no question

Mako you could get shit done, it just took a while. Hammerhead suffers catastrophic explosions from dirty looks and harsh language.

    I hate them both.

But at least the hammerhead was in the game less.

I didn't like the hammerhead when it was new, and i don't really like the mako now. it's just if we have to compare them, the mako was a better combat truck then the hammerhead is a tank.

  • LawndartLawndart Registered User regular
The idea of replaying the "have fun restarting the entire mission if a Geth sneezes on you" Hammerhead parts of ME2 seems far more daunting than having to replay the Mako-wrangling parts of ME1.
