Keep on the Shadowfell[H1 D&D 4E Adventure Module]
This is a PbP 4E D&D game using the H1 Adventure Module: Keep on the Shadowfell. This will be run in a similar vein to my
Keep on the Shadowfell campaign back in April 2009. I burnt out while running that game after a break-in left me sans laptop which had all my files for the campaign on it. I've finally decided to sit down and rebuild my materials, so let's have at it!
Game Info
This will be a PbP game with a requirement of at least one post per weekday; however, more frequent posting is certainly encouraged. If you know you'll be unavailable for a long period of time, you can also PM your turn to one of your companions and have him/her submit the info for you.
We will be using
Myth Weavers for character sheets and
Invisible Castle for rolls. Campaign name will be "PAKOTS"
Character creation will be the standard 22 point buy with 100gp, and I'm going to keep things extremely simple and say that the only allowed content is PHB and PHB2. Monster races from the back of the Monster Manual are not permitted.
The deadline for character submission is Saturday, March 10 at 12PM EST. That's about five days to get your submission(s) in.
I will be giving more weight to players who are not currently in another PbP. Keep in mind, I will merely be giving these players more weight. I will not be choosing them above all other players. My selection criteria will be based on party composition and character background. You are welcome to submit as many characters as you like, but I encourage you to put more effort into one or two than to submit a half dozen bush league character sheets.
Note: I will be putting in the same amount of effort (if not more) as my last campaign, so expect a high degree of polish. As such, I'd appreciate an attempt on the part of my players to put in a certain degree of effort as well. I'd like people to be able to follow along relatively easily, for example, so everyone will need to post in the appropriate colours, spoilers, etc. Nothing too crazy, but you should know how to quote properly, what to bold, what to italicize, etc. Pretty standard stuff you see in most of these threads.
Lastly, I will be changing the module somewhat to suit my tastes/throw curve balls. It won't be the same twists and turns as my last campaign, but keep in mind if you've done this module before, I
really don't want meta-gaming to ruin this. All are welcome who are interested in having a great time without ruining the experience of everyone else.
World Info
Meet the village of Winterhaven, population 1977. At the end of the old King's Road, this tiny little walled hamlet sits atop a broad hill, nestled in the southern foothills of the Cairngorm Peaks. The walls are weathered stone topped by defensive palisades, which are patrolled often by the modest Winterhaven Regulars.
Small thatched homes stand around Winterhaven, each fronting a small piece of farmland or pasture. Beyond the farms to the west and south lie dark woods, and to the north, tall mountain peaks.
Most residents of Winterhaven have never traveled beyond the village vale. They are farmers, simple craftspeople, and a few mysterious characters whose motives aren't entirely clear. Wagons sometimes head east to trade with the next village, five days away, but that is the extent of the town's export. Once each week, a wagon arrives in the Market Square to trade exotic goods to the townspeople, who are always enamoured with the curiosities they find.
The town is led by Lord Ernest Padraig. He is descended from the noble family that ruled the area under the edict of the old empire. Folks around Winterhaven were happy with Lord Padraig's father's authority, and they have found answering to the rules of the new lord no more arduous.
The adventurers have been together for some time, working mainly in tiny villages such as Winterhaven, clearing out troublesome kobold lairs, dealing with some skeletons here and there, and acting as escorts to wealthy merchant caravans. On a recent contract, the group came across a small wooden casket in the not-so-tender care of a kobold grunt. Inside, aside from various sentimental trinkets, was a gold ring, adorned with an embossed crest. Your contractor is only too pleased to inform you the ring belongs to Lord Padraig himself, and after much contemplation you all agree to return the ring to Winterhaven.
The adventure begins on your way to Winterhaven, high in spirits. Surely a village Lord is wealthy enough to reward the return of a precious family heirloom. At the very least, he might have further work for you.
Post any questions you might have, but otherwise happy character creating!

Expect a character shortly!
Confusion will be my epitaph
In the event you don't get as many players as you want, I'd be happy to jump in to cover any role needed. I'm already in one pbp (Legend), and I don't know how quickly these things fill up, but if it turns out you need more people, I can throw a character together in about 15 minutes.
I'll let you know. Go ahead and roll anyway if you're interested. Back when I did this in 2009, there was a lot of interest in the two days of signups I allowed. I'm not sure how active the PbP community is here, anymore.
I've been reading over my previous campaign for the past hour, and I'm getting more and more excited for this one! Once again, even if you've done KotS before, consider this PbP. I will be changing things as I go to add some variety. For example, a siege!
Devi, elven ranger
Dire, Level 1 Male Tiefling Wizard (Striker)
Short character background on the sheet; I just converted the important stuff to Myth-Weavers real quick. If I get into the game I'll fill it in more completely. Not playing any other games on the forum, though I did sign up for the Sunday afternoons live Shadowrun game starting this coming week.
Aemon Brightwater, Elven Cleric of Sehanine-http://orokos.com/dnd4e/sheets/4357
The full moon was completely hidden by the eclipse. Alariel strained under the force of the contractions, the child was coming very soon. As the moon broke free from the darkness of the eclipse, the newborn came fully into the world. This child would be special; this elf babe would be favored by Sehanine.
Aemon Brightwater gathered his gear to begin the journey and he considered his purpose. He would bring the light of the moon to the dark places of the world and bring hope and love to the hearts of its people. To do this though, he would need to go out into the world and experience it in all it’s wonderful, awful glory. He would need to gather allies, but in doing so would find enemies as well. Fortunes may change but Sehanine’s blessing would guide him true.
Panmorn Human Paladin (Defender)
I'm not in any pbps currently. In the interest of full disclosure, this would be my first one.
Good times, good times.
Kal Reed
I'll post his background info within a day or so. I'd created him for another game which I didn't got to play in. I am not currently playing in any pbp games.
I have KOTS planned for a group I DM at my College, set to begin in a few weeks. Nothing will be spoiled and I look forward to experiencing your creative changes to the story.
I'll edit this post shortly with a Character.
Here's a character rolled up.
Surina Thyx, Female Dragonborn Fighter (Defender). - Always need a good Defender.
Expressing interest, will get a character sheet in likely tomorrow.
All of my D&D PbPs have fizzled, but full disclosure I am doing some Star wars PbPing currently.

EDIT: I tried both IE9 and Google Chrome, using a verizon email account. I Cleared Cache/Cookies/saved data and I still encounter issues.
I'm getting the same issue, so it's probably a problem on their end.
Obviously it isn't in PHB1 and PHB2, but I thought I'd ask if you'd make an exception- many do, since the weapon/implement thing handicaps so many.
Fun fact: 1st level character that can get +17 to a diplomacy check!
Barran Brightsoul, Tiefling Bard (Leader)
Halvard Giantbane, Goliath Barbarian
Rumor, Half-Elf Druid
I'm currently playing in Zephyr, which has been going on since time began, and I'm running May We Die In the Forest and The Hunters.
I'll allow that.
...Is it Saturday at noon EST yet? :P
Cali is itching to take part.
I have added some background to Cali
Cheers
An OOC thread also provides a place for people who aren't playing in the game to throw in their 2 cents.
I've had games run both ways, and enjoyed them all, though, so it's no biggy.
*bites nails nervously*
Panmorn, Human Paladin played by @RedDawn
Barran, Tiefling Bard played by @El Skid
Dire, Tiefling Wizard played by @Hensler
Devi, Elven Ranger played by @ronrab
Halvard, Goliath Barbarian played by @Denada
I'll have the threads up in the next few days. All I need from you guys at the moment is a picture of your character that I will use to make your tokens. Colour would be best, since everything else is going to be. If you don't have a preference, I can just find one for you. If I don't get one from you by the time I put up the thread, I'll assume that's what you want me to do.
For Dire and Devi, if you guys wanna altar your names a bit to avoid confusion that's cool. It's up to you.
I'm excited! If I didn't have to work in an hour I'd be posting the thread now
Barran's image:
I look forward to stalking the party, this seems like a great group. Have fun with this.
Here's Dire, my Tiefling Wizard, in a picture stolen from Google Image Search without shame:
This is good. Attacking is something Halvard enjoys doing.
Also, Figgy:
1) Let me know if you need a bigger pic than what's on the MW sheet.
2) Do you mind if I switch out the glaive for a halberd?
And go ahead and change any little bits you want. I'll also be letting you guys make adjustments after the first encounter, in case there's something that you notice really doesn't work well. I usually do this (especially when there are new players) rather than have a player kick himself for the rest of the campaign for choosing x skill when he really could have used y more. We'll see how it goes.

Also, as per DM request/suggestion, officially changing name to Zevi. Fixed on sheet.
Sorry for the delayed response was running my campaign yesterday.
