Football Manager + Crusader Kings? Oh god, I'd love it but be so damn bad at it.
Marry my players to rival managers' daughters in order to gain intel on their teams. Send my worst players on suicidal slide tackles: break their goalkeeper's leg, getting red carded in the process. Hire actors to go to matches dressed in rival clubs' gear, heckling players and starting riots. Secretly accept a contract with a new team, drive your current team into the dirt before you leave. Hire youths to conduct missions of vandalism and graffiti on opposition stadiums, forcing them to spend money on cleanups and reducing ticket revenue. Through bribery or blackmail, force rival star players to speak out against the rampant homophobia and verbal abuse in their team.
Oh, and win some soccer matches or something.

There are Steam Threaders who are interested in Borderlands who don't have it?
I feel like a doctor encountering smallpox in Times Square.
Ha. In your defense I didn't show interest before because I just recently got a gaming PC.
That's no excuse. I owned 2 copies of Borderlands before I ever bought it for my PC.
Loot is serious business today.

With the influx of people who are going to be playing Borderlands, I should probably get it downloaded and join in the fun some time. Still haven't played it yet, stupid low bandwidth cap.
Huh, Wikipedia claims that 2K games published Jade Empire, I thought Bioware self-published that one. Not that it'll go on sale anyways of course, someone somewhere seemed to have a decided against making any more money on that game.

The competition gets slightly less laughably one sided: after the most recent update, Origin no longer seizes up my computer and spews out connection error messages every time I start it.

Let it be known that @ArcSyn is a classy gent who has gifted me Borderlands, and not just any Borderlands, but Borderlands GOTY. I'm excited to play this. Thanks Arc!

EA, most likely.
It was published on Steam before Bioware was acquired by EA.

Everyone needs to buy NBA 2K12. Everyone.
OK, everyone with even a passing interest in sports games. Doesn't even matter if you don't like the sport. I didn't, before 2K10. Now I have 500 combined hours sunk into NBA 2K10 to 12.
And, huh, exactly half that in Football Manager 2010 to 2012.
Okay, you know crack? NBA 2K12 is very much like crack, only it's a video game about basketball.
The create-a-player mode has so many little bars to fill up. You get points, you put them into categories, little bars fill up and you get marginally better at something. There are so many of them! And there are other, bigger bars, that take more points. Points in bars! It's NBA: The RPG. There's even dialogue wheels.
There are actual dialogue wheels. In post-game press conferences.
Also, so many bars.
OK, that's just my particular form of crack, the reason for picking up NBA 2K12 is that it's such a good sports game that it almost doesn't matter what the sport is. Everything is so polished, everything is so thought out. Like the Create-A-Player mode, there's a full two round draft at the beginning voiced by the actual commissioner (you can tell because he's so bad at it). There's a Legends Of The Game part where they have games featuring big players throughout the ages, so there's a Larry Bird game where Larry Birds 1985 Boston Celtics take on Dominique Wilkins and the 1985 Atlanta Hawks. Everything's set up so it's the same rules as back then, same court as back then and there's a visual filter so it looks like a televised game from that era, with the announcers treating it like they're watching a classic game, explaining the rivalry between the teams and talking about the players involved. There's 15 of those games, if you go back far enough, it's in black and white. There's no need to do that, they could just as easily just have had the classic teams and that'd be that, but everything is so polished.
Training mode is another example, there's a lot of nuance to the game. Easy to pick up, hard to and so on. So the training mode has one of those legends teaching you how to do stuff like do post-moves around the basket or do fakes from a standing position. I understood basically nothing about playing the post in 2K10 and 2K11, 2K12 taught me how to do it. There's Franchise mode, there's Online, if you're having trouble getting the timing of the shots down, there's optional feedback indicators you can turn on. If Superstar (easy) is too easy, but All-Star (normal) is just a bit too hard, there's sliders so you can go in and just go "Hey, all the CPU players are going to be -5 on their on-ball defence. That's all the edge I need to have fun with this again".
The commentary is outstanding, easily the best of any sports game out there. Going from NBA 2K12 to Pro Evolution Soccer 2012, I just want to turn the sound off. There's some repetition that sneaks in once you play franchise mode and play several games in a row with the same team, but all in all, it's just... polished is the phrase I keep going back to.
Basically, NBA 2K12 shows how sports games should be made.
Edit: 2K13 is probably going to hit around October. 2K10 hit October 6th, 2K11 hit October 5th and 2K12 hit October 4th. So... October 3rd seems likely.

Actually, one of my biggest peeves with the game is that there's only one voice for your player. That's the one. Doesn't matter if he's a 6'4" Croatian shooting guard with a mohawk, he's still going to sound like that.
The 2K games library on Steam is just ridiculously awesome. I recommend looking at the complete pack whenever a big sale comes up, it's an excellent purchase if you're missing most of the games in it.
I also do not play any sports games, but I'd like to hear a pitch
Where's Bullio? Hasn't he sunk like 6 million hours into NBA2K12?
Over 150. The game itself is really fun. The game modded out with better looking and more representative faces, courts, jerseys, shoes, signature shots, and classic teams (like the Dream Team) is orgasmic.
Ill pick it up at the end of the weekend or if it goes on daily. PA league tournament? SIG BETS?

Hey Borderlands people can you help me out with something? I'm trying to turn off mouse smoothing, but I can't find the file. Everywhere says it's willowinput.ini and I change bEnableMouseSmoothing=true to false, but there's no willowinput.ini, just defaultinput.ini. I'm guessing they changed it for the GOTY version maybe? Anyway, I can't find bEnableMouseSmoothing=true in there either.
The Borderlands sale is hilarious when you look at the Xbox deal of the week: Borderlands DLC for $5 each ($20 total). Keep telling me that PC gaming is more expensive...

I'm thinking of management. Behind the scenes stuff. Like if Crusader Kings was about baseball.
