Keyboard Insanity

Okay, I’m working tech support at my job. I have a user tell me that every time she is entering dollar amounts and hits the “. Del” key on the keypad it brings up outlook. I say she is insane and try it anyway. It brings it up every time. Doesn’t matter if outlook is open or not. I switch the keyboard and everything is fine. I bring back the weird keyboard and plug it into a brand new machine. Exact same thing happens. Any idea what kind of key combination this thing is sending out to make outlook open? I’m stuck.

Is it a special kind of keyboard or something generic? It could be that it's just messed up and sending the same signal that an extended keyboard might when you hit the "mail" button.

In fact, that's about the only thing I can think of that it could be.

It probably got fluid spilled on it, and shorted out some of the circuitry. It could be sending a couple keys at once and happening to trigger the shortcut for Outlook, or is sending the code for the e-mail media key.

Just buy a new keyboard and keep the old one in reserve for emergencies.

It's a plain gateway keyboard. It is in the intake area of a jail so it gets crap spilled on it all the time. I just thought it was really interesting that it was doing it. I think I'll keep it around for practical joke reasons if nothing else. I was really just wondering if anyone else had run into this before.
