What instruments do you play?

I used to play violin when I was younger. Started in elementary school, played during some thing that met once every so often at school. After some time, I don't remember how long, I got some private lessons for a while. Two or three years at least. In any case, I didn't try very hard, I didn't practice enough, mostly. I eventually stopped. I feel kinda bad about not trying harder, because it was somewhat of a waste of my parents money.

However, I recently got the urge to play again, and I've actually started practicing. I've gotten a good few hours a day for the last few days, and I'm having a lot of fun. I'm not very good, but the foundation I got from some lessons was enough that I should be able to get somewhat better without any lessons, at least for a while. I may take more in the future, however.

In any case, I'm not the only who plays. What instruments do you guys play? What attracted you to that instrument? How long have you been playing? How awesome is your sound-maker?

For the purposes of this thread, I'm not counting the penis as an instrument. Sorry.

    What'd you like to play?

    I actually really like Irish fiddle, like Riverdance and stuff, but I'm not good enough to play that sort of stuff yet. I would like to learn, though.

    i enjoyed the really deep, powerful shit
    where it is all just carried by the bass and timpani
    and i just had to totally wail on the instrument to even be heard over it all

    i kind of miss playing in an orchestra

    I played violin for nearly 6 years, but I haven't played it since I moved on to college.

    Sometimes I really miss playing. I don't think I could pick it back up, though.

    I've played the double bass, then moved on to clarinet, then to bass clarinet where I was chased out of band by a bitch of conductor who almost ruined organized music for me. After that it was dabbling in the guitar, and now I play the djembe.

    I play nothing competently, but I used to know a few guitar chords and I've picked up a violin a few times and made some noises resembling music with it.

    I think if that if I did seriously learn an instrument I'd play the violin.

    I play clarinet and bass clarinet every day in band(s). I play contra-alto clarinet on a few songs. I play contrabass clarinet in clarinet choir.

    I've played alto clarinet for band before. I've also played tenor and bari sax in musicals.

    First chair bass clarinet in the top ensemble at my uni, whoo. >.>

    All the chicks in high school band that played Bass Clarinet were actually pretty cool people. It must take a certain type to brave the instrument.
