Ending spoilers
I never realized just how very much I love Anderson. Not until he died saying he was proud of me. I just started a new game of ME3, and couldn't help but bawl like a little child, seeing Anderson alive again and remembering his "You did good, child. I'm proud of you." Considering how little, very little time is actually spent with Anderson, it's pretty amazing to me the level of affection I have.
I mean damn, I care way more about his death than Miranda's or Jack's... and I liked Jack and had some actual personal conversations with her.

God, that entire scene had me teary-eyed. So beautiful.

On a 'not ending' note, I think they screwed up the pacing of the game. Here's how it worked in my head:
You are preparing for reapers.
Earth is your base.
You are trying to get alliances made, knowing the reapers are coming.
The turning point is reapers invading earth, your readiness clearly not enough, and and it ends with you finishing the macguffin search.
Humor can be dissected as a frog can, but dies in the process.
never really felt anything for anderson
he was just kinda a guy
just kinda a keith david that apparently I was supposed to think was really cool even though he never did anything

Ranking the games purely on "overall game pacing and interconnectivity" seems to go

There is a temptation to change the thread name to "Dichotomy Declared Worse Than The Reapers By Independent Sources."
It is not a temptation I will act upon.
But it does exist.

there really did not need to be any more buildup to the invasion, the last two games were all about that
the intro established just how crazy powerful they actually are, and that tone is carried through the whole game

I think that would've worked but I kind of like how Earth gets taken right at the start
from the very first mission onward, every minute you're wasting on these missions is another thousand people dead
The reapers are already hitting other places so that's already true.
It's just that the whole "making alliances" is a huge distraction from the 'save Earth' goal because those alliances are self contained conflicts that needed to be resolved eventually with, or without, the reaper invasion. During the alliance building missions, I wasn't thinking "This will save the galaxy!" I was thinking about the resolution of that story, nothing else.
The whole macguffin thing is 100% about saving earth. Sure, introduce it early so it doesn't come out of left field, but having earth be invaded later would give new impedus to getting shit done. Urgency. The fact that Earth is under siege the entire game in fact stretches the realm of disbelief, since these are full capital class Reaper ships and they should only really be dealing with the last cockroaches after the months it took to get everyone on board.

Yes, the buildup of the last two games that I played years apart. It's not about establishing power. It's about coherency of plot and establishing urgency. Earth is invaded stage one, act one of ME3. It's the first thing you see before you have control of your character.
I think that was a huge misstep. That urgency is forgotten about with the amazing storytelling of Tuchanka and what follows.

I'm varying up my squad choices a lot more in this one. Haven't brought Ashley or Vega along often, since I kind of...do what they do better than they do, but I've mixed up the rest of them pretty well

HEY
He cold cocked Udina. If you choose the right councilor at t he end of ME1 he belittles Udina and makes him feel like a two year old. Anderson is a god damned Hero in my book
Oh Prothean spoilers
Is the assumption we're supposed to make that most ancient civiliazations ( ours included) were uplifted ( to the extent they could) by the various survivng Protheans in order to try and get a tech leap on the reapers and the Asari screwed the Varren?

I think the assumption is that the Protheans were trying to figure out which races would be ready to stand against the Reapers in the next cycle, and which ones needed a little help to get there.
The asari only screwed up because they thought it was a good idea to withhold valuable Prothean tech from the other Council races.

Yeah exactly this
I tried it a bit ago, I was like oh I know I'll do a triple header with a new character
And gave up around the CItadel in favor of just "fuck it I'll just do DickShep Part 3"
Maybe I'll do it now
Probably not
Fucking hell man

Because I didn't see a code, or a download source, or anything after I ripped into all that sweet, sweet CE swag.
not fun
like at all. i was really happy marksman+pistol was so broken because then i didn't have to deal with actually playing the dumb game
but then to the series' credit, mass effect 2 is so good it got me to finish that mess so i could do my canonshep
I'm not sure if this gives the exact same results as playing through ME1 though.
Yeah. The changes I'd consider making there would lengthen the intro to be even longer than it is right now, which would probably be a bad thing.
This would be fabulous
ManShep deserves the ability to get all tarted up as well
it lets you make all the most major decisions, i believe
but everything else is still not up to you

Once you put the CE code in on your 360, it'll unlock on the Origin/Bioware account that you have linked/create that's tied to your gamertag.
