So, in the next week, I will be getting on a plane to fly to Korea. I have some stuff to do, but I don't want to listen to airplane noises for 15 hours. With this in mind, I was hoping to get some recommendations for musics.
Things I like:
Indie-ish stuff (Ex: Andrew Bird)
Not incredibly hardcore punk (Bad Religion)
Guilty pleasure Popular stuff (LMFAO)
Classic Rock (Hendrix, Zepplin)
Various other things
I'm pretty open to everything except country, hardcore rap, and screamo/thrash music. That being said, if you think it's super awesome and want to recommend it anyways, I might try it out! I'm going to have plenty of time in the next two weeks, so I'm open to try stuff out.

More to the request though, The popular bands in my playlists right now are Cake, Sleigh Bells, Grizzly Bear, Kings of Leon, and Us royalty.

Also if you can spare the extra money look into noise-canceling headphones or even music players that does that (I think Sony make some).

psychedelic satanic rock from sweden. very up beat and catchy. no the "devil music" most people know. very tongue in cheek live show, as they hold their performance in vain of a black mass.
@Iruka Do you have some good podcast recs? I currently listen to This american life, Wait Wait dont tell me, freakonomics, sometimes fresh air, and some Brewing Network stuff (homebrewer). Pretty much all NPR. But I can listen to a lot of stuff. Also, Cake is awesome.

Keith and the Girl- 5 days a week updates, which makes this one awesome for quantity and you can really get invested in their lives if you want to. Very gossipy but heavy in the NYC comedy scene
Stuff You should know- Is like being read a wikipedia article. they are short and cover a vast range of topics, kinda nice quick filler.
Savage Love Cast- Dan savage gives sex advice, always entertaining.
WTF with Marc Maron- Marc maron, a depressed, neurotic comedian, digs deep into the minds of other creative types, making for crazy interviews.
Pod F Thomkast- a variety show podcast that is awesome and should be listened to in order
New York City Crime Report- Comedian Pat Dixion and friends read local crime in new york and make terribly dark jokes. If you think the Darwin Awards are cruel I would not listen to this. Its also pretty new so its still finding its stride.
Giant BombCast- Gamer podcast. suuuper long (podcasts range from 2-3 hours) its very silly and the banter is good, and they
Gamers With Jobs- If you like giantbomb, GWJ is a little more formal and focused, shorter, and they occasionally get interviews.
Legacy Music Hour- Two dudes play 8 bit music and talk about it. Feels like what you would find on a college station if they let the to nerds have an hour to play their beeps and clicks at 2 in the morning. Its fun though, if you like chip tunes.
Also, You'd probably really like Radio Lab, if you like the NPR stuff. Its really well produced and its a great way to get some science stories.
Pretty much by anything by Caravan Palace or Parov Stelar is awesome, if you like those.

I forgot to mention Franz Ferdinand. Get your hands on their discography if you can! Absolutely fantastic music, and they are lyrically interesting too. Favourite song is Michael, check it out.

If you want something on the weirder side Pepe Deluxe's new album is all kinds of odd. Like some surf-rock, tv anthem concept album. Neat lyrics as well.

Also weird is the debut from Yamantaka//Sonic Titan, a band led my 2 half-Asian women out of Montreal. It's on the heavier side of things--kind of a heavy rock opera with definite prog influences, and the songs are all taken from an actual musical they're writing. Most of the lyrics are in Japanese, but it's a fun listen if you can get your hands on it.
