Since there are so many cons, here's a thread to talk about the news from each of them

From WonderCon 07's DC Nation Panel
Green Arrow will end with #75, Winick said, adding that the very last page of the issue features Oliver Queen offering an engagement ring to Black Canary. With that issue, Winick said, he’ll be off the series and character. Didio said that the repercussions of the engagement will be felt throughout Countdown and the DCU, and when prodded, Wayne said that there will most likely be a miniseries spin out of the end of the series.
Winick said that “repercussions” seen will involve other heroes throughout the DCU weighing in on the engagement.

The four issue Green Arrow Year One miniseries will begin in July, by Andy Diggle and Jock; at the same time there will be a Black Canary miniseries (which Wayne was referring to earlier) by Tony Bedard and Paulo Siquera. The plan for further year ones will be that they will launch every three months, allowing for a small amount of overlap between them.

Didio hinted that, in terms of Batman storylines, that Terry McGuiness (Batman Beyond) may be showing up somewhere in the DCU soon.

James Robinson does have a story in mind for more Jack Knight stories, and the door is open, Didio said, now, scheduled just need to match up.

I don't get why they're canceling Green Arrow. Everyone loves him. It's just Judd Winick that stinks.

Readers will see Shado, Connor Hawke’s mother in the series soon. Winick said that he likes the complicating dynamic that she brings to the title, that is, adding a mother to the father and son relationship of Ollie and Connor.

From Newsarama. Now.. I'm not sure if Judd's aware, but Shado's like, not Connor's mom. At all. Maybe he missed out on the cover for the Dragon's Blood mini Dixon's doing, where Connor and Shado are making out. Or maybe he's planning to tackle incest for his next hot button topic.

I don't expect an encyclopedic knowledge of every comic written in the past five decades or anything, but this is basic stuff here.

I'm not worried about the art, but has he ever written anything? Seems kind of odd to give the characters to an untested creator after their recent exposure in 52 and Batman/Superman.

I'd really like to see a Batman Beyond era ongoing series exploring more of the DCU in that time. Sort of seperate from current ongoing events like LoSH but tapping into the legacies of current characters. I suppose it'd pretty much have to be an Elseworlds story though.

Dini brings the DCAU into the official DC multiverse.

I think it'd be neat if they made an "Earth Beyond" and just had it in the setting of Batman Beyond (although not necessarily in the DCAU)

It'd be a good "Ultimate" universe

Everyone needs to buy the two minis coming out, as well as Connor Hawke Dragons Blood. That way, it'll create a good buzz, and we can get Dixon and Donovan on a new Green Arrow ongoing.

Will we see more of Terry McGuiness in the DCU after his appearance in Superman/Batman? Didio: We are considering it. Imagine if there was a multiverse where there were many worlds where there would be one where Terry McGuiness was Batman…

At their just-concluded DC Nation panel at WW: LA, DCU Executive Editor Dan Didio just announced two new projects spinning out of the pages of 52.

Asked if there were any potentials spin-offs coming, from a fan, Dido replied, "It's funny you ask that. If we did a Booster Gold ongoing series, would anybody like that?"

    [audience applause]

"I'm not saying he survives 52, but what if it were written by Geoff Johns, co-written by comics newcomer Jeff Katz, and drawn by Dan Jurgens and Norm Rapmund?"

Didio continued, "We do have plans to bring back Infinity Inc., with John Henry Irons in the lead, written by Peter Milligan." Art will be by Max (Warren Ellis' Blackgas) Fiumara.

The panel is just wrapping up. Look for a full report within the hour...

Please God, don't let Johns fuck this up. Please oh comic book Christ in longbox Heaven who has treated me, your loyal servant so poorly these past two years. Please let it be JSA Johns and not Infinite Crisis Johns.

Not too excited about Jurgens either way though. I mean, I know he created Booster and all, but his art, much like a lot of the guys from the '80s, just hasn't aged too well. I seem to recall him doing some 52 pages that looked pretty neat though.

    Still, I'm cautiously optimistic.

James Robinson not knowing when to shut the fuck up is the reason I only own the first two Starman trades.

I mean, almost everything about the series I loved except the fucking omniscient narrator telling what is going on and how I should feel about it, all the time. Hey James it's a fucking comic book you fuck. LESS WORDS ASSHOLE.

I like the idea of bringing time-travel into Booster's series. At least hopefully it'll explain the jump from depressed Booster and dead Skeets at the end of OMAC Project to optimistic Booster and alive Skeets in IC.
