Quick Response posting: How many is too many?

I have an interesting question on board etiquette. If you post on a thread and get instant responses, how many times are you allowed to continue the conversation? Should I go into the next room for a few minutes? Perhaps watch a movie? This isnt a chat room after all

    It bugs the hell out of me when people have 1-on-1 conversations in the middle of an image posting thread, take up entire pages with their girl talk.
