I've actually listened to that Reave sound effect so much now that I just tune it out, heh. I unlocked the Quarian Engineer last night, which seems pretty good. I like the idea of the little turret thing, though it seems pretty ineffective. The cryo ammo upgrade is good I guess? for 'Holding the Line!' etc. Not sure what to take for its final upgrade though - the rockets sound nice, but since it breaks after two shots I wonder if the flamethrower might not be better for chucking it into a group of bad guys. Any opinions on that one?
I went Cryo Ammo/Shock upgrade/Flamethrower. That thing will annoy the living Hell out of some enemies. On anything above Bronze it's useless for dealing damage, so you need to make it distract and annoy as best it can. And the Flamethrower on that thing is inexplicably hilarious.
I wish we could see Shepard from the eyes of a Cerberus mook. I also wish that we could see the weapons and mods equipped on Shepard and co. when we're in the position to buy upgrades, so we have a better idea of what to get.

Man I love the Quarian Engineer and her turret. Though admittedly I usually stick to Bronze matches.
But there have been a few times when a banshee and a couple of brutes where coming up the path, and the turret held their attention and took them down with fire (fire is the final upgrade I took). It was a thing of beauty. I actually promoted engineer at 20 because I wanted to respec. Not sure whether rocket is better because I haven't tried it.
Peace to fashion police, I wear my heart
On my sleeve, let the runway start
Been trying to decide on the ultimate anti-brute squad. Undecided on Inferno, Warp, or Reave. Also undecided on Sniper Rifles vs. Shotguns.
Tend to roll Adept regardless, at least until I hit 20 just in case I unlock the Asari.
As a Salarian Infiltrator, I can 3-shot a Brute from Cloak on Silver without any special ammo types or weapon bonuses. That's just with a Rail Extension and Armour Piercing Mod. So, yeah. Infiltrator's are basically your Brute-slayers.
I'm digging the human engineer, but with a Avenger X (200% recharge!), maxed drone, maxed incinerate instead of the 3rd overload zap, and maxed uh... Operative? Your class skill. The extra damage to armored on the incinerate really helps on things like... Everything.
Watching my drone just destroy all the swarmers it can find like popcorn is ever so gratifying, too. It HATES those things...
Yeah I'm really having a ball with support classes in general. (engineer in particular) its just really satisfying totally debuffing and staggering everything that pokes its head around the corner and then having your teammates mow it down. And even I can do some damage as long as I have some range and breathing room.
Shields? Overloaded and stunned
Snipers and Phantoms? Overloaded and then blown up with falcon or incinerate.
Heavies? Stripped with incinerate and overload. While being tanked by my drone. (seriously banshees love the damn thing! Solo tanking Banshes ftw!)
Groups of Mooks? Chain overload and chain drone stunned followed by lots of grenades of love.
And seriously, that M-37 Falcon....wow!
Once I figured out its quirks, (ie, don't rapid mash your fire key otherwise it glitches hardcore, make sure nothing is obstructing line of sight otherwise your grenade shot will detonate right in front of you, stay at range etc) the thing is a beast!! Chain staggering whole groups of enemies, destroying turrets super fast, knocking even Phantoms or brutes around, the thing is pure happy times! ( as long as you're close to an ammo crate )
So yeah if you see Thegreatcow in a multi match, I shall be down for some KFR (Kentucky Fried Reaper).
God damnit, that was so frustrating.
I've never seen a Silver game against Reapers go so smoothly like our last one (Biotics everywhere!), but then we get to the last wave and we die in like 30 seconds.
The "upload from one terminal" thingy is so darn difficult against Reapers. Ravagers two-shotting you from afar while you've got 1 Banshee and 2 Brutes right in your face.

My biotic god sentinel continues to be awesome. Even in a game where there was an adept running around stealing half of my biotic explosion credit because they kept warping the things I had warped before I got my throw out, I topped the end score.
It was that somehow, from within the derelict-horror, they had learned a way to see inside an ugly, broken thing... And take away its pain.

also, how do the increased carry weight abilities interact with power cooldowns? Do I get shorter cooldowns because I'm now using a lower % of my total weight capacity, or do they just raise the limit above which i start incurring penalties?

what kind of multiplayer packs should I be getting to unlock new race/classes? Veteran? Or should I just save all my money for spectre packs
I've gotten multiple class unlocks with Spectre packs and at least one with Veteran packs...for classes at least, Spextre packs seem to be a better bet for the more obscure class combos (Salarian Engy, Quarian infiltrator etc)

As I understand it, your weight capacity is how much gun you can carry before you start getting cooldown alterations, but I may be wrong on that.

It depends on the class, really. The human classes are all common unlocks, so they can be easily found in recruit packs. From there, Drell Adept, Turian Soldier, Salarian Engineer, Turian Sentinel, Quarian Infiltrator, and Asari Vanguard are uncommon unlocks, so Veteran packs are the best, though they can turn up in recruit. Asari Adept, Krogan Soldier, Quarian Engy, Krogan Sentinel, Salarian Infiltrator, and Drell Vanguard are the rares, so Spectre or Veteran packs will have them (Spectre being more likely)

Also I just have to shout out to the PA folks I've played with so far. Granted it hasn't been often (hate my hours) but you're all good peeps! If you see me online on Origin (sn is Thegreatcow) msg me up and I'll help out with some reapers!
The PA comic pretty much encapsulated my sentiment on the ending silliness. People need to learn that they are not entitled to change someone else's work.

Oh god yes. It's usually waves like that force me to bust out the missile launcher. (3 brutes 2 Banshees are the same time are you freaking kidding me!?!?) I pretty much have to preemptively wipe out the heavy groups ahead of actually starting the hack otherwise we simply get swarmed. Also thank god for the missile launcher capacity upgrade I got a few times... Five Cobras woo!
I don't have a ton of great weapons, or even fully upgraded basic weapons, so I'm considering this strategy:
Buy only Recruit packs to get upgrades to my Avenger, Katana, etc. and weapon mods until I'm satisfied (preferably until I hit X on a few weapons). That means that I won't get anymore Avenger, Katana, etc. cards in Veteran or Spectre packs. This should make buying Vet and Spec packs more worthwhile.
Is that a legitimate strategy?

A sound plan. Annoying when you get a bunch of character cards though.

So, do you get the N7 weapon if you succeed with a partial extraction on silver (where you don't survive?).

Well, that might work right up til you get some more silver weapons from the specter and veteran packs. There are quite a few!
Do you for sure stop getting cards for things you max out, like weapons, mods, and classes? (maxed for a class would mean all the appearance options unlocked, maybe level 20)

I've heard you do not stop getting class cards after you get all appearance options. And since you can promote and reset the class to 1, class cards are still kinda useful. But just barely.

Interesting info on enemy weak spots.
Banshee
- No weak points (aim for the belly, as it's fattest - most likely to hit it)
Brute
- Takes reduced damage in the right arm
- Takes greatly reduced damage in the claw
- Armour Plates absorb damage until breaking (best to aim for exposed flesh, probably base of the neck?)
- No other weak points
Geth Prime
- Currently has a head volume (but it's a bug)
Atlas
- Some types of weapons will do increased damage to the cockpit (this is a bug)
- Destroy any of the following to do a small damage spike (shoulder flanges, groin plate, knee plates)

What this means is that for characters that are highly dependent on weapons, like Soldiers, promotion isn't much of a setback. You can use an Avenger X as a level 1 Soldier.
But for an Adept, the bulk of your damage output is through your powers, so it'll probably take some leveling before you're back to normal.
A Human sentinel that goes for biotic explosions all the way is pretty good at fighting Reapers. My current guy has 2.7 on warp, 1.6 on throw, and warp, throw, warp, throw kills everything but a banshee (on silver at least). (So that's roughly 7 seconds). The fact that throw takes out a husk and that explosions hit multiple targets is also great (though the area is small).
Marauders are actually relatively tough for them, taking the same amount of time as a brute because you don't have a shield breaker, and they tend to dodge/hide.
It is kind of annoying to learn to slightly target away (usually upwards) from any covering enemies, because the biotic often paths hits the cover if you aim straight at heads. I guess that compensates for not having to aim accurately though, which is great for the likes of me.
I use the Viper sniper rifle as the only weapon on all my power focused guys.
The problem with this brute event is that so many people that shouldn't be doing Silver are doing it, making what would otherwise be a reasonable Silver round turns out to be frustrating hell.
I did my "complete" silver round last night, so unless I'm playing with PA people I'm just going to stick with Bronze for the duration of the event because...yeah. I know that doesn't help the brute kill count but eh.
"Shit, banshee and two brutes, MISSILE LAUNCH THAT SHIT"
"wait, it missed? No, that was a perfect shot game, hit the banshee's feet head on. Whatever, I'll do it again FUCK"
"no explosion even? Fine I'll use my inferno grenade WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON"
"Shit the banshee's still walking towards me I'd better... watch her walk right past me."
"And I guess she's going to ignore the z-axis."
"And she's off the map. Well, this kinda sucks, wonder if the host got disconn-shit game caught up and the banshees and brutes are still alive and i'm dead fuuuuuuuck"
"AND MY MISSILES ARE GONE FUUUUUUCK"
Stay tuned for the next episode wherein I punch a guy in the face and his health bar does not decrease until the next punch wherein he dies instantly
Followed by heavy attack on a trooper right in front of me and clipping past him instead/hitting him head on such that the hit sound plays but him not flinching and his health not going down
Followed by vanguard charge triggering but then not triggering leaving my guy in the same vulnerable position as he started but with a cooldown
