So there's this game.
Realm of the Mad God.
It is basically a co-op bullet hell free-to-play MMO.
You can
play it in your browser or download it for free from Steam.
How do you play? Pretty simple. You basically run around, shoot shit, avoid getting shot by other shit and try to live as long as possible, because when you die, you're dead for good.
That's right, there's permadeath. But it's cool because it takes less then an hour to hit level cap if you do it right.
So how do you get started?
You start out in the game in a tutorial section, but you can warp to the Nexus, the hub of the worlds, at any time by pressing F5 (browser) or Insert (steam) or pressing the little icon next to your name.
From the Nexus you walk past a couple hundred moochers waiting for someone to drop some loot into a big room full of little portals with names like Beholder and Cyclops and Flayer and Medusa. Those are servers. Pick one. If you want to run a train, go for a crowded one. If you just wanna run around with friends, jump in an empty one. I tend to go for Cyclops because it has a lot of folks in it reliably.
From there, just run around and kill shit.
You wanna power-level? The thing about RotMG is that anyone within a screen or two, when a monster dies, shares the XP. Which means you can usually find a Train running around, which is twenty or so dudes just bulldozing around on the roads killing absolutely everything they encounter. Press enter to bring up the chat window and just say "Train?" and you'll usually find someone saying "Here". Type "/teleport (their name)" and you'll be whisked away to their location. All you gotta do is keep up. You can follow them and pick up their loot, if you want, but it's usually best to just try to keep up and power level until around 10 or so. This is a real good way to quickly unlock the first few classes.
You can also zoom in and out on the minimap with the mouse wheel, click on any of the yellow dots (they're players) and teleport right to them. If you see a mass of yellow dots, check their level. If they're between 4 and 15 or so, they're probably a train. If they're predominantly level 20 (the level cap), they're probably God Hunting, which means you'll die super quick if you're not geared up and leveled.
That's about all there is to the game. Go check it out. It's free, it's brainless good fun, and if you get a small crew of dudes together on a Steam Chat or something while you play, it is an absolute blast.

only played one life as a wizard but it was really rad, got to like 15
I didn't know about the clicking and zooming! that's super useful, thanks
You have to get to 20 with them to unlock the tier 2 classes.
To unlock the tier 3 classes, get to 20 with the tier 2 classes.
Pretty simple.
If you die do your unlocked classes stay unlocked
As long as you're logged in, yup.
Aight I'm down
Pay for it
Because that's lame
But Shark Week is awesome!
who's down
Ughhhhh
Pass
I gotta choo choo my way to level 20 first
Doubt you'll be on then, tho
Run a train on that mother
Seriously I hit fifteen in like half an hour
Trying to hit 20 on my wizard before I ditch him and start a priest
this game is pretty neat
I have! But then the train hits a huge mob of enemies and suddenly enemies are everywhere and whoops I'm dead
Either your train is too small or you're at the front
Find an existing train and hang towards the middle for a bit
are those permanent across classes or...?
However, the ring will never leave your finger, and you will be unable to ever describe to another living person what you see.
What's this God Hunting thing
How do you do it
What.
I managed to get that last life out of the way in about a minute flat
is it cross-platform or do I need to be in my Windows boot to run this
