So, I'm sitting at my friend's house playing some Wii Tennis, and just basically relaxing. There were like 5 of us there. All of a sudden, there comes a knock at the door. I open it, and a swarm of cops come in, waving search warrants. Turns out my friend was getting raided for computer-related crimes. They seized everything in the place that had a battery and could potentially store files or get on the internet. This included all of his computers (like 10 of them), routers, modems, flash drives, cds, cables, music devices, my laptop, his girlfriend's laptop, his friend's Wii, every gaming system (including a DS but not including the SNES), boxes upon boxes of just extra parts and stuff, everyone's phones, all his computer books, etc etc. This whole process took about an hour and a half, while we're just sitting there in disbelief. I still haven't fully come to terms with the fact that I'm not going to have my laptop for, potentially, a few months. His life was changed completely in the space of two hours. I mean, I have never in my 4 years of knowing him seen him without a laptop, or not mentioning some sort of computer stuff.
Has anyone had or heard about a similar experience? Or does anyone have any interesting cop-related stories? Discuss!

while of course everyone throws their shit out the back or hides it.
Too late for any of those delaying tactics, I'm afraid. We all thought the cops were busting his roommate for weed.
He had a LOOOOT of information and files and stuff, but he never did anything malicious. No damage, no personal gain. They wouldn't be able to pin him with more than illegal entry of computers. The problem is, one of his boxes was being used as a drop-box for a lot of other people, and he really has no idea what's on it, but it could potentially fuck him over big-time.
Follow well in order, get your weapons ready,
Have you your pistols? Have you your sharp-edged axes?

edit. nevermind
It looks pretty good you guys.
Need some stuff designed or printed? I can help with that.
I mean boy oh boy are we gonna need these for evidence.
And what sort of dumb ass keystone cop takes a cell phone when the warrant relates to computer crimes. Phones can't use bittorrent.
I wouldn't be surprised that cops love computer related busts because things prolly have a tendency to disappear from the evidence locker later.
They are allowed to take anything that can store information or connect to the internet. Everyone's phone in that room could do both. Hell, mine's basically a PDA.
Shittiest part: The kid whose Wii it was is an old friend of his from Georgia, who decided to come up and visit for a week. His luggage got lost and still hasn't shown up, and pretty much everything else he had (including the only clothes he had with him, which he had to buy LAST NIGHT) was in the bag he brought with him. Which was confiscated.
Edit: Also, while they did take the Wii, they left the Wiimotes. Which have memory in them. Ironyyyyy

there can be only one
They have no way of connecting this computer to me, and me to my friend, and this story as the same story, etc. And either way, he was completely compliant, and basically admitted to everything. Helped the cops out as much as he could. I haven't said anything that he hasn't.

But now I see that he is a hacker and also stupid. Oh well.
I mean...what?! Who does that? Free flash drive!
For the most part he was pretty intelligent. I guess a bit cocky sometimes. But I'd say for the most part he knew what he was doing.
Does anyone else have cop stories?

I killed a man in Reno, and a bunch more in My Lai.
Everything with a resale value, anyhow.
Especially contraband.
I killed a man in Reno, as he was calculating Pi.
"Im going to kill the president"
Proof?
All the ones I've met have been pretty kick ass guys...
Do a google news search for "evidence locker" theres 4 or 5 incidents right there.
All the ones I've met and just talked to when I was working at this convenience store were always nice to me and shit, but then that is me talking to them in an environment that is not them just rolling on me and fucking with me
i don't really get fucked with by cops because i'm an innocent-looking white guy but god help you if you're black or mexican and out after dark
I really hate to break this to you, but you might as well kiss that laptop goodbye. It's most likey going to be sold/destroyed after the investigation.
It's not yours anymore.
