Hauppauge retro game help

PaintedPixelsPaintedPixels Registered User new member
Hey guys, I recently bought a Hauppauge HD PVR, admittedly a bit of an impulse purchase, and wanted to capture some retro gaming stuff with it, mostly NES, SNES and N64. But so far the results have been incredibly jittery, with video and audio occasionally looking good, then skipping like crazy. I know from Googling that this seems to be a common theme, but I've also seen some people post some great looking footage of SNES games on YouTube using this.

So my question is, does anybody have any suggestions on how to improve the video here? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Oh, and I should mention that while the live window is very jittery looking, I've tried un-checking the "preview while recording" box, and the resulting video file is still all messy.
