There was that time a few days ago where I posted an article about Texas working to restrict the ability of people to vote and my mom responded with an incoherent word-vomit about "liberal liberal welfare liberal" and we haven't talked since because her and my dad have completely fallen into the Fox "Us versus them" version of the national discourse.

I find this kinda dumb because it insists you add some sort of Facebook app to be able to read the article.

Same. I have a lot of friends and aquaintaces, and many of them have moved away. It's cool to get glimpses into whatever their lives look like now. I think it helps most of the people I'm friends with aren't idiots who talk in all caps or overly emotional teenagers

My cousin posts the same shit on twitter as he does on facebook for status updates. Just fucking choose one and leave it there.

I like facebook, it may be sad but it IS the best way to keep in touch with my family/friends

Especially when most of them are in different timezones and so phoning/skyping with them is difficult

Apart from that, though, meh

I have accidentally 'liked' my own statuses/photos before. I usually manage to catch it and undo it, but boy, it sure is easy to accidentally do on a mobile

I deleted everything on Facebook except my wife, and I would have gotten rid of all of it but we use Facebook chat to talk when I'm at work in areas where I get no phone reception. I also have a Google+ account but nobody I know uses it and honestly I don't care what anyone does or says if I don't know them personally, so I hardly ever log onto it. I just feel like it's too much work keeping up with other people's shit. If someone wants to talk to me or hang out then they'll call or text, otherwise fuck em because I don't care.

My dad has a habit of asking me about my facebook posts in person. I post that I should try making a facebook app and he comes up to me the next day and asks me what my post means.

I use G+ pretty much exclusively to keep up with PA'ers outside the forums.

Obviously it doesn't amount to much, at least not on top of the forums, but it's something else to have.

I kind of like getting snapshots into the lives of the people I went to high school with through facebook! and I've moved a lot so it's a good way to keep in contact with people. I don't put too much personal stuff on there.

I even asked my mother the other day about the protocol of who/when to inform when the baby is born

I assumed she'd probably want to be phoned before I updated Facebook, but no, she actually wishes me to update Facebook first

She said if she received a phone call at an odd time of day she'd assume it would be bad news about my elderly grandmother (who has been in and out of hospital), but if I update Facebook first one of my sisters will probably spot the update and tell her in person, which will be a much nicer way for her to hear of the news

Plus updating Facebook = means my dad and brothers will get the news at the same time
