My boyfriend and I just bought an Xbox 360 today, brand new. It automatically comes with a 1 year warranty. Microsoft offers the extended service plans for $25 for one year, $50 for two years. In your experience as an Xbox 360 owner, is it worth it to get this and a good idea or are we suckers for even considering it?

I believe the warranty is already extended to 3 years for the most common problems, so I wouldn't bother.
Despite the 360's early failure rate, if you've got one of the newer models I don't think the extended service plan is necessarily a good value anymore. Also, the 3-year extension is for RRODs specifically, but those are pretty rare on the newer models to begin with.

Personally I'd get it, but I'm a sucker for the cheap extended warranties, and my 360 stays on most of the day because it's also my Neflix/Hulu/ESPN/Youtube/Media Center box in addition to a gaming system.
Having said that, I've got the elite which came out before the slim, and I've had it since Modern Warfare 2 came out and it's had no issues whatsoever.
