How Paul Christoforo plans to cash in on his fame

Pretty interesting interview with Paul Christoforo about his future.

“Yeah, everything’s looking fine. Like I said, this is a minor setback and now it’s more of turning into a row with everybody. Being the bad guy, but at the same time I’m trying to be the good guy, but you can’t be a good guy to everybody. People see me as the villain of Arkham City. Personally, I’m acting, I’m just kind of feeding into it a little bit, and just keeping things alive. Trying to keep my celebrity, or keep my status in the news, or available. I know Kotaku, and those guys aren’t going to print anything about me anymore. As long as I can keep doing press releases, and keep my name out there, and keep the story going. That’s what my goal is until I’m ready to release my book. Once I put my book out, I can do a nice PR on my book."

My first reaction was 'who?', which probably doesn't bode well for his attempts to cash in on his 'fame'. Then I realized he's that dickhead who sucks at PR, so he's only even THAT 'famous' among people who despise him; no one else even knows his name.

    This will end well.

    But he's internet famous!

That translates well into money, right?

Sure, the dude picked a fight with a semi-major website and got humiliated each time. People can recover from that, with time.

But Paul's main problem is that he just won't shut up. Judging by his twitter feed, he angrily and only semi-coherently responds to everyone who attacks him. Everyone even slightly famous gets randomly attacked at some point or another. Responding to them just makes you look like an uncontrollable hothead, and the way Paul's doing it he looks like a dingbat as well. To hear Gabe tell it, it took Paul a few hours to even figure out he had been humiliated the second time, and looking at his twitter feed from that time backs it up.

Hey! He can do a nice PR on the book! Leave the good guy alone?!

Anyway, did he ever turn up to PAX East??

Why would anyone want to read his book? I mean, with someone like Sarah Palin there's a group of people who actually (for whatever reason) like her, and another group of people who love to hate her and can't wait to tear her book apart, and then a third group of people whose job it is to keep up with the bizarre bullshit that quasi-political celebrity figures do... but the only group of people who know who Christoforo is are people who dislike him. And I don't think the subset of them who hate him enough to spend the time seeing how ridiculous his book is would be large enough to support publishing it.

And what would it even be about? The Paul Christoforo Story: How I Was Famous For About 72 Hours As On Internet And Argued With That Penny-Arcade Guy?

I'm not interested in promoting Paul Christoforo
