PlayStation All Star Battle Royale, aka "Sony Smash Bros."
Sweet Tooth is a hoot to just walk around with, shotgunning everyone. His level 1 is terrible, though. Level 2 has a weird hit box, but level 3 is nice.
Man, that shotgun, though.

I like people complaining about X has a shitty level one or Y has a shitty level one. So, what you are all saying is it is a level playing field and you have to use your supers at appropriate times. :P
Anyone else watch Maxamillion play this game? I find myself shutting it off because he complains soooo much because he just isn't great at the game. Haha.
More like, his level 1 is really difficult to place in such a way that it actually hits someone. It was probably an overstatement to call it terrible. Maybe, "seemingly unnecessarily difficult to land."
I advocate the appropriate use of supers, and utilizing what works for you at opportune times.

Welp, last time I bother with anything other than Free Super Saver delivery. Didn't show up. :P
Plus I just learned GAME actually has extra character costumes. That sounds better than the steelbook I'll get when it finally shows up.
The UK got a steelbook version? Damn, I would've liked that. If I've the option of a steelbook copy, I usually take it, unless it's a laughably dumb price or something.
Anyway, a tip for anyone that plays the game on both PS3 and Vita. PS3 logs you in and syncs your progress automatically, but the Vita doesn't. On the Vita version, there's a bar up the top, press it on the touch screen and then a screen will show up letting you log in. That'll sync all your unlockables and levels. I didn't know this when I first tried it on the Vita (which it runs flawlessly on), so I started from scratch and once I figured it out, what little progress I'd made was wasted (as the game just goes with the higher of the two, local or server). On the bright side, two different trophy lists is pretty cool, even if the game doesn't sync trophy progress, it just means that you have to platinum it twice.

It looks nicer than the regular box art, it'll actually be my first PS3 steelbook! Wonder if it's the same size as the regular cases, or will be a DVD style one?
Just bummed I'll be missing out on MGS2 Raiden and Toy Big Daddy. :P
I've got tons of steelbooks. Batman AC, Killzone 3, Resistance 3, DMC4, RE5, RE6, Uncharted 2, Yakuza 4 and Yakuza Dead Souls. FFXIII-2 and Mass Effect 3 as well but they're stupid DVD-size cases that stick out amongst my other PS3 games. Adding to the collection would've been nice but oh well.
As for the DLC, they'll put it up on the PS Store eventually anyway, so I wouldn't really worry about it. Going by the two characters coming out in January, it'll probably even be free for a while.

Played this at a buddy's place. Got my ass kicked but we had a ton of fun. We had "That One Guy" running away with the cat and sleeping.
I'm coming from the "regular fighting game" side of the fence and I'm a complete newbie on this kind of gameplay, so I'd like some general and specific tips:
- When I'm blocking, do all neutral Square combos have a window I could slip in a quick attack, or counter?
- Do down + Square/Triangle attacks have to be blocked low (is there a block low option)?
- What's the simplest way of dealing with an enemy that has 2 bars and gunning for a level 3?
- How do I barge in on two guys beating on each other?
- Are there hit-confirms in this?
- What're Parappa's strengths, and what do I have to avoid when playing as him? Same as for Nariko and Sir Daniel
- Are there any holes in Dante/Raiden's combos I can take advantage of?
Thanks in advance! I think I'll pick this up next week and issue a challenge on my buddies again.
I know with Parappa, from the beta, that he has a microphone attack that pulls in an enemy and then you can combo off it. I would probably suggest using his boombox whenever possible.

There is no block low, just block. As for someone gunning for level 3 you probably want to try to throw them to knock out some AP or try to get a melee item since those also knock out AP. Beyond that I'm not sure what you can do except be prepared for it and know what to do to get the best chance of not being killed.
The only character whose Super I just don't like so far is Sir Daniel's unfortunately. He's a tall dude and it only goes over his head on top of that, meaning you have a hard time hitting the smaller characters with it. I got used to it, though, which was helpful when I fought Toro, Sackboy and I think PaRappa in the same fight. Something like that.
Am I imagining things, or didn't the original character roster include a Chimera grunt as a playable character? In fact, I could've sworn I saw a screenshot of one in a match...
Anyway, I love this game and I hope Superbot supports the hell out of it with DLC. I want to see more characters, maps, unlocks, items, and everything else.

I'll echo this a thousand times over. Honestly, I think there's too few maps in the game having played it quite a bit, but at least the maps that are in the game are pretty cool nonetheless.
Speaking of extra stuff, I got a character costume pack or whatever from my GameStop Pre-order and entered it, but it seems it's just for the PS3 version in terms of downloading. Does anyone know what the costumes are, and if I can get them on the Vita? Two costumes to pick from just ain't cutting it, and I haven't even touched it on PS3 yet.

I don't think you can. Sounds like it's a problem with the NA version of the DLC, as my (PAL) code gave me two 100KB keys, one for each version of the game. Hopefully SCEA fixes that issue and automatically adds it to all the accounts that already have the PS3 DLC.

I think it appeared in a lot of the lists people assumed would be in the game but it was never confirmed or announced. Chimera do appear in the background of the San Francisco map though.
These guys play against each other and they just seem to be regular people having a great time with the game. This reinforced that I definitely want this.
Hey, do you guys know how to log in other profiles in local multiplayer so not everyone has the same name?
Edit: I played an online game where the all three other players were Heihachi. It was weird. I haven't been playing much online, is this common?
I don't think you can log into multiple profiles at the same time, sadly. The functionality is there, as there are games that've used it (LBP and Resistance 3 off the top of my head) but it just depends on the developer. Hopefully they'll patch it in, like Media Molecule did with LBP.
I can't imagine Heihachi is that popular, so it's probably not so common. Kratos and Raiden, however, will probably be seen quite a lot.
I love how Sackboy has a german suplex. I'm not sure why he even has it but it's hilarious.
Watching more of that video series I posted up there, they start crying about Radec because he stays far away and shooting. Uh, why not just jump and make your way over to him? Same thing I think Maxamillion was bitching about. It looks like Radec has to be on the ground or there is a second or two of set up for the shot. It is called anticipation, people.
Radec is one of the most powerful 2v2 characters. When he has a teammate to watch his back and cover for him, he is a nightmare to deal with. Especially when his co-op partner is Kratos.

Man, this is a trivial little thing, but I hate it. Tekken 6 did the same thing. I basically only play Tekken locally vs. my bro. We ditched Tekken 6 and went back to 5 so we could continue to keep score. :P
Won't be such a deal breaker here, but it reminded me we're due our annual Tekken-a-thon in a couple weeks, and I was finally gonna pick up Tekken Tag 2 for it...
Ed; finally arrived, yeah!
Gonna wrap up AC3 before popping this in, but gotta say... the Steelbook is kinda silly. It's PS3 case size, that's cool. But the back is the exact same image as the front. I figured the back would have the rest of the roster on it, but nope!
Anyway, PSN is DRX-777 and I'll probably be Raiden and NuDante-ing it up tonight! ;D

That's wonderful.
So! They really uglied up the menu from the Beta. I swear, I actually thought "this looks cool" at the Beta menu. The finished one is fuckawful.
A lot of the finer details are mystifing me right now. In Story mode, why do some of the opponents have a green Bot icon, some a blue one? I assumed it was like a team mate thing, but it ended up still being Free For All. Is it possible to die to regular attacks, cause it sure seems like it sometimes? What's a season, how do I play it?
Most stages are a mess, especially hate the Loco Roco/MGR mash up, but there are some fine gems in there too. Often I find myself wishing the camera would pull in a little bit.
Only beaten Dante's story so far, but his dialog with the Rival was fun! Love the final boss.

Disclaimer; I probably just suck as him
Basically he's like Bowser! Only rather than building his Supers real quick (as the analog to dealing tons of damage) he builds em slow. And moves slow. And attacks slow. And GAH.
Actually, I played a match earlier with Big Daddy in it, and he kept spamming the Ground Drill Slam move to pump up his super gauge fast. It was really annoying. A person playing Radec ended up winning anyway, but still, I kept getting juggled with that.
Alright, how exactly does cross play work? When I played it at the conventions, I was able to use a vita controller while others were using PS3 controllers. It wasn't exactly clear to me how I was supposed to do this last night.

I don't think it's set up to do that locally in the retail version of the game, you have to invite/be invited via the friends list. I could be wrong though.
I tried to play some online last night. It was a 2v2 game but my partner left halfway through, presumably because his connection dropped, so it was really a 2v1 game for most of it. I managed to jump out of the way of a last ditch level 2 and that was it. Really exhilarating game.

That's one of the only ways ive found to reliably gain meter with Big Daddy, besides his dash he feels too slow compared to a lot of characters. I still like playing him but haven't found a good way to use any of his circle moves yet.
Has anyone had much luck playing toro? I enjoy playing as him and his supers are pretty effective but man actually gaining meter can be challenging. I end up in afro form a lot just to be able to close distances easier to get numerous hits off quickly.

I'm hearing there are game-breaking bugs in here. How true is this? My only concern is if it's limited to online play, as I prefer playing this with offline buddies. If it's all in online, then I don't mind.

I am also real interested in this. Jigglypuff is my main in Smash Bros and Toro seems like the analog, but he's so hard to get into good position to do anything, and his sleep move is apparently useless?
Also wanna recruit someone to go 2v2 trophy hunting with. >:D
