Help figuring out genres (a.k.a help me find more good music)
So lately I've been in a bit of a musical rut, same old bands but just new songs kinda deal. So I've been trying to find some new and different music. 1: This first genre that caught my ear years ago is sort of like a rap style but with more of a musical factor to it than traditional rap... The best good artist I can name is Deltron on his CD 3030... that has to be one of my favorite albums of all time, not just the lyrics but the music itself is amazing. here is a link or Captain dan and the scurry crew who are also pretty good but don't tell the same epic stories like Deltron. 2: The second genre was more of a classic swingers music from what I believe to be the 1950's-60's. I found this type of music in video games of all places, Bioshock and Fallout 3. Songs I particularly like are Somewhere beyond the sea. 3: the third and final genre is kinda like a soft techno and acoustic thing, best examples I can think of are The Staunton Lick and Music for a Found Harmonium by Patrick Street.
While I'm here I may as well ask about a particular song that I can't figure out to save my life and may not even be real. It was some kinda rap or hiphop song that a lot of movies used when the characters in it obtain a lot of money all of a sudden and then behave like "gangsta's" and I believe it went something like: "What do you do when you get that money, nananananana" in the tune of "121212343434 12121212343434" or maybe more of a 2/4 thing like a waltz.
And actually, any new music would be appreciated but keep in mind I prefer the types of songs that tell stories instead of modern dance music.
If you like Deltron, check out Jurassic 5[Quality Control and their EP are great, wasn't a huge fan of Power in Numbers], Blackalicious, Del tha Funky Homosapien [This is Del from Deltron... Deltron also includes Dan the automator]. If you like J5/Blackalicious then you can check out their members solo albums as well [Chali 2na, Lyrics Born, etc]
if you venture outside of hip hop and want story-albums you can go to the best and listen to Pink Floyd. Animals, Wish You Were Here, Dark Side of the Moon, and The Wall are all story albums.
I'm not really sure what classic swingers would be -- but if it has a tinge of country I would recommend Johnny Cash. A lot of his songs have a country flare while being rock...
Also, Event II from Deltron comes out later this year, finally.

If you like songs with stories, Murder by Death may be up your alley.
There are two threads in SE++ you may want to look through.
The first is the "what kind of music do you like" thread, and the second is the SE++ Listening Party.
Every weekday a new album you most likely have not listened to is posted in the latter thread, and we all talk about what we like/dislike about the music.
All of this is gold, thanks for the advice. I may change this thread up a little bit now that I've found enough good music to shuffle into my music to keep me busy for a while.
Does anyone have suggestions for non-lame wedding songs? I need to pick out a first dance song but everything I find is terrible overly romantic money making drivel.
I suggested this song a while back for a Valentine's Day mixtape. It's just the right levels of cheese and romance, especially when you realize that the entire song is a single line repeated over and over again. Probably not the right thing for a wedding dance, though.
If you like the hip hop stuff with more of an emphasis on the music then I recommend Why?'s Alopecia album. It's really amazing and done with a full band. I find I'm constantly recommending it to people because it's one of the best albums of previous decade.
If you want to try something totally different might I suggest Bell Orchestre? Basically an orchestral take on a post-rock band (with much shorter songs on average).

I would give both a shot.
