Help me identify two books please (solved)

I'm having a reaaaal hard time remembering the names and authors of two books I read way back in the day 10+ years. My googling is coming up with nothing so I come to you all in the hopes that someone has read them as well.
Book 1 (til we have a name let's call it the girl with magic eyes who likes trees book):
I believe it was a young adult book that starred a teen female protagonist. She was attempting to live her life normally throughout the book but she had super powers and some evil entity was chasing her. She also had the ability to injure or melt folks and creatures by making eye contact with them. She also had apocalyptic dreams about the world in ruin and the leader of these demon like things she'd occasionally see was an older version of her. I remember one part specifically where she was dreaming that a major city was on fire and these sort of demon like shadow figures forced surviving human folk up to look her in the eyes where she proceeded to melt them. I believe there was a tree with a lot of green on the cover.
I'm not too hopeful about this one but it's really just to satisfy my curiosity since a lot of yall are incredibly helpful in finding/remembering obscure things from the past.
Book 2 (Let's call it alien hand in the sand):
The cover of the book was a clawed hand sticking out of some sand (I'm creative with names). This book was a bit more adult in that it had scenes of a more violent and sometimes sexy nature. I remember the main bad dude alien guy would burrow around a small town. He had created some type of force field to prevent folks from leaving or entering. I remember a single character named Nasty (named as such because she was a gang member who:

One other character had a major crush on her, can't remember the name or what the heck was wrong with him. The alien in the town fashioned folks into other aliens and I remember there was one person who had two dogs that got pulled under with him. He was pulled in with the dogs and the alien thought they were together so there was at a later date, a two dogheaded/human alien running around at one point. The alien also had problems with inorganic matter when fashioning them into other aliens so there were alien/human hybrids running around with watches, necklaces, earrings, and the like sewn into them. I remember during the beginning there was a huge scene involving a car with an alien on top speeding through a desert, the last part of the book actually took place in the aliens spaceship underneath the town.
I know it's not a lot to go on but I'd like to re-read (alien hand in the sand) again if I just knew what it was. I will forever be indebted to the person who can tell me what this bastard of tommyknockers is.

The first one sounds like it might be one of Terry Brooks' Word and Void series.
The Word and The Void. But this is just a guess on my part, it's been a really long time since I've read any of these.
You hit the nail on the head with both! As soon as I read the name "Nest" with the first book it clicked. I had assumed some crazed fever dream had thought up that book and I'd never find a real thing involving it. Running with the demon was the one I was thinking about.
