Comfortable & Casual Work Shoes

Hey all,

I'm starting a job in a week and will probably be standing a good amount, so I'm looking for a comfortable pair. This is my first real job, but the dress code of the place is jeans and a decent shirt, basically don't look unkempt. I've worn K-Swiss tennis shoes for the past 6 years of my life, so my style isn't very evolved (but they fit me very well, size 9.5). Any recommendations for shoes that will look nice and be comfortable in a work environment will be much appreciated :)

Thanks!

My general advice would be to find a comfortable brown or black leather shoe with a thicker sole and real laces.

    Something like this:

I would use that as a starting point and then see what other employees are wearing. You could always move to a hipper look. Any men's casual shoe that isn't white.

If you start having back or foot pain from standing and walking all day, try switching to a quality hiking shoe. I like Merrell.

Don't go to outlet stores or buy online. Find a shoe in a store that fits well and is comfortable.

If a Tennis like shoe is ok, when I worked at Disney they gave me a pair of these

I was on my feet all day everyday, and they were pretty comfortable and their slip resistant which can be very nice

My wife picked up some Propet brand Travel Walkers off Zappos, and she's found them to be fantastic to wear, and really easy on her feet. She had a stress fractured toe a few years ago that'll tend to act up if she's walking around too long, but that hasn't happened when she's been wearing those shoes. We got her mother a pair, and she slings newsprint in a warehouse all night, and she also finds them to be incredibly comfortable and easy on the feet. They do make mens shoes, so maybe take a look into those.

Go check out Eccos for sure. Last for a pretty good length of time and comfortable the whole way.

Depending on dress code, a good walking shoe is probably ok. I happen to like ASICS. For a comfortable workboot. Red Wings are good, but really expensive, Timberlands are a good choice for a less pricey boot. For a nice dressy shoe that is also comfortable I like Rockports.

Merrell has a rep in the hiking/outdoor world, but their casual shoes are awesome for what you're talking about.

These are my favorite for business casual. And hey, there's a world map on your foot! Super comfortable and durable. I wore them for years (they were actually called the Passport before, guess Legend is more dramatic) and replaced them with the same style.
