Cat Making Horrible Noise

So my cat has been making this horrible noise. Here is a YouTube video of it:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QRXAW0qC9yk

It sounds like she is throwing up, followed by eating of said throw up, except I never actually see anything come up. She is 1 year and 9 months old. He mood is the same, still eating and drinking, just the past 12 hours she's been doing this.

Oh, also, she never had a hairball before. Could it be that?

Hairball, stomach issues, etc. If she's eating, pooping, and acting the same there's probably little wrong with her.

It could be a sneeze or a cough as well. Have you noticed any mucus?

Could be hairballs. It's hard to say because different cats make different noises. Our male cat kind of hacks and splutters a bit like the video. Our female cat sounds like someone trying to garrote a squeaky toy.

Yeah, that's not normal. Make an appointment with your vet.

One of my cats gags to throwing up (sometimes hairballs sometimes food) maybe twice a week. When it's food she's usually just eaten and does it right after wolfing down her food. She then may or may not proceed to eat it up; she won't try to eat a thrown up hairball. I asked my vet about it (cat goes in twice a year) and she said "yeah, all cats just throw up sometimes and some cats just throw up a lot. Yours is otherwise healthy." I feed her on placemats to make cleanup easier.

Edit: Given that it's a single, deep, unproductive hack I think he's probably got some throat irritation from ingested hair, but not enough matter to bring up a hairball.

Yeah, that's absolutely vet calling time. Hope everything is relatively ok.

Heh, it kind of sounds like she's sneezing.

And it seems like all is dying, and would leave the world to mourn

Just an update. From what I know, he took her, got her meds, and she is perfectly fine now. Puffycow is on his honeymoon and I am watching both his cats until Sunday. I was at his place on Saturday/Sunday and Tuesday. She was her typical little asshole self. Haha. <3<3
