So the restaurant I now work in has over 100 bottles of wine on the menu, served by the glass. Naturally, people want recommendations. They want me to know what I'm talking about.
And I don't.
Well, I kinda do. I can recommend a "dry red" or other vague descriptions, but I'm not nearly as knowledgeable as I'd like to be. I'd like to be able to describe where certain wines come from, what they means in terms of climate, what that does to the grapes, etc. Can anyone recommend a book/something that deals with the basics and then moves up from there? I don't need to be an expert or anything, but I'd like to be able to talk about wine and not sound like a bumbling moron.
