The Guiding Principles and New Rules document is now in effect.
The first of hopefully multiple designs I've created for server shirts is done! They go for $20 + shipping, and $4.60 of profits of each shirt will be donated to the server! Colors offered are white, grey, light blue, navy blue and royal blue. More designs to come soon/eventually!
Don't be a jerk! That means no stealing! No duping items! No griefing! No cheating of any kind! If what you want to do will piss someone off, then don't do it! If you're not sure ASK! If you want to pull a prank on someone speak to the admins cause we're nice people with a horrible sense of humor!
We'll invite your friends but if your friend is a jerk you are banned too!
We play on hardmode! No more kits or handouts! No free teleports to your buddies!
No more automatic spawners! (That is spawners that rely on MCM to drop and collect items for you. You must be actually present and collecting items yourself.)
Read the other god damn posts! We're currently overhauling how we get our messages across to you. From now on, if you have an important post to make, make it bold and red or something super obvious.
LEAVE THE STRONGHOLDS ALONE! Explore them and put up torches if you would like to, but leave everything else in place! We don't care about villages, they're infinite.
Q: This is an awesome server, can I donate?
A: Yes! Please, contact Ultimak about doing so. He has a link in his sig for just such a thing.

Did you know that there is a large modding community for Minecraft? It's true!
I will not bother to list like a top 10, because there are just so many that I wouldn't have time to do so. The Minecraft Official Forums are exactly what you would expect from any official forum, full of people who care way too much about Minecraft to actually fill in their brain with knowledge or tact. This is where the modding community is though!
As far as keeping things organized, the mods there seem to run a tight ship. I will make things easy for you though and link you to the forums and stickies you should frequent.
Jeb has been working hard on Testificates as of late, no doubt implementing some of the long-awaited features players have eagerly anticipated from them - including trading! The image above shows an example of the system he is currently working on, indicating that a barter system involving a form of currency is on the horizon. Finally, Testificates will do more than meander into your towns, panicking at the sight of creepers! Although that can be humorous in and of itself.
Drunk Town
No, it has not happened yet, that was simply a little get together to make a base camp
I have a date up for discussion but not a time June 1st on a friday. Yell at me if this doesn't work. if enough people yell it can be changed
On a side note.
For preperations for drunktown to continue we need one of two things
Option A: A temp portal to drunk town put somewhere in spawn, as this is more of a creative based event I do not see the harm of a portal especially with oceloti having one fairly close. Just not close enough to trust drunk people to make the walk
Option B: We need whoever is currently running oceloti to give us permission to plaster a hasty rail line leading from there area to drunk town (Undergound).
And finally I must beg all of you to go and donate random building materials for the event, we have a store house set up and you can pretty much throw it anywhere. However the storehouse was designed by 4 or 5 very drunk people with very different taste. It hurts the eyes and is hard to get into.
the shack is set up at -3453, -4265 and at the moment the fastest way to get there is by the oceloti TP then a hike north
Remember 12/21/2012 when the doctor saved us all once again.
somebody tell me how to set up a portal and I will set up a portal. june 1st should be good for me, but depending on the time I might be a little late.

Whatever the time is won't really matter, it'll probably start earlier than necessary to aid our friends across the pond, and be set to last entirely to late for you Nazis in California.
As the event's objective is to drunkenly build one giant monument, it won't really hurt you to be late to the event.
Remember 12/21/2012 when the doctor saved us all once again.
gumpy:
When we start a new map can spawn town be on a giant mountain
Giant mountains are cool
asian mountain city! with kungfuu temples and shrines!
I really actually like this idea.
Personally, I hate deserts (and snowy biomes for that matter)
A mountain biome with wood bridges from mountain to mountain would be pretty cool.
How would the rail system work? Sky rail? Or have the main station pretty much immediately elevator you down to the ground?
Also, I don't believe I said this yet but I fully support giant biomes.

THE HUNTERS GUILD
=============
FAQ:
What is it?
The Hunter's Guild is a new way to address the Cultist vs Inquisition dichotomy while the Inquisition players are otherwise occupied. The Hunter's Guild is not a replacement for the IQ nor is it meant to work alongside it. Players do not join the guild, instead they take commissions from it to follow up on leads and bounties about suspected cultist activities. Those that do and bring back the proof or evidence requested will obtain fantastic bounties.
How does it work?
Every now and then, the Hunter's Guild will become aware of dastardly cultist shenanigans (through our many contacts throughout the land) that need to be investigated by brave individuals of Midlurf. Players will be able to read about the new postings in the Hunter's Guild and in the forums (new bounties will be posted in both).
For each bounty:
-There will be a clear condition for proof, such as a screenshot showing a certain bit of evidence, and item that must be aquired, or a location found on the Dynamap.
-There will be a clear reward, with the value based upon the difficulty of the challenge.
-There will be special conditions designated (such as a certain amount of players required to complete, a specific time or place to be found, or items needed to be successful (if any).
-There will be a danger level indicated.
-And finally, all players MUST be pvp flagged in order to go after bounties.
Yeah, but how does it really work?
The Hunter's guild serves two purposes, to allow cultists to have their shrines and to have players have an incentive to try them. Cultists that want a shrine designated will contact the guild (Encartrus in game, Enc on the forums) to post their bounty and the conditions required for someone to try their shrine/duel/whatever. They will also be expected to pony up a portion of the reward for attempting the shrine (though the Hunter's Guild will add at least half of the reward for each posting). For cultists with questions, please see your local Cultist Leader or the Hunter's Guild Representative. Once a bounty is posted the Cultist posting is required to remain PVP flagged at all times while the bounty is active. Failure to do so will result in being banned from the guild for future postings.
Note: The Hunter's Guild is not associated with the Inquisition and will not release the names or information on its sources.
Players looking for a dungeon challenge or a quick and adventurous way to get loot will contact the guild to take a bounty, either by letting the representative know in game or sending Enc a private mail on the forums. Once a player announces to the guild that he is going for the bounty, he is required to remain PVP flagged until completion of the bounty. Failure to do so will result in nullification of bounty and being banned from the guild for future postings.
So what is your cut, Enc?
Simply put, there isn't one. I'll be doing this with my extensive time and resources at great personal inventory cost. What I get out of this is seeing an energized RP on the server and chances for folks to see the hard work of the cultist shrines while also getting something out of it at the end aside from a broken inventory and five hours wasted.
Where is the Hunters's Guild?
The Hunter's Guild will be in the patch of green land in New Harbor, Ispawnbul. It will be built over the next 48 hours, approximately beside the water palace and just Southeast of the Pyramid by about 40 blocks.
For more information, drop me a line. And Happy Hunting!
This bounty has been Completed!
ATTENTION!
With the help of PvtCaboose and BahamutZERO the lair of the Atomsk Cultists has been discovered!
The NETHERCROSS CULTISTS left many traps, but our heroes managed to complete the dungeon and earn the amazing loot from the Hunter's Guild! Congratulations! The NETHERCROSS CULTIST dungeon experience is still open to other players who want to test their mettle, no prizes will be issued but all screencaps of the final area will be added to this thread.

With brave determination, two of our stalwart hunters braved the wilds of the Frontier to put a stop to the terrible portal to the Dark One's realm that emerged within meters of the Great Frontier Road! After working their way through the Dark One's terrible traps and pitfalls, they were able to locate the terrestrial remains of a lost Inquisitor that were used as an anchor to keep the portal open.
Mayabird, bravely took up the task both as a Hunter and as an established Inquisitor. For her, this journey was not just one of necessity and duty, but one of vengeance. PvtCaboose, one of our brightest Hunters to date, also took this task as his second bounty and has gone far in making a name for himself amongst the Hunter community.
Lets all thank Mayabird and PvtCaboose for their bravery and sacrifice in protecting our world. Rewards for both will be waiting for them in assigned chests within the Hunter's Guild in New Harbor, Ispawnbul.
And keep watch on the forums, brave Hunters! More bounties will likely be posted in the near future! If there is one thing we can count on it is this: The Dark One never rests, and neither do the Hunters!
I promise to be less reticent than I was at Drunk Shack. It was late on a Sunday so I didn't want to wake the wife or child. (Ask the wife. I can get downright salty when playing TF2.)
"The difference between virtuality and life is very simple. In a construct you know everything is being run by an all-powerful machine. Reality doesn't offer this assurance, so it's very easy to develop the mistaken impression that you're in control."
Or better yet, ask Sopa what happens when a MEDIC LEAVES ME IN THE MIDDLE OF A CHARGE.

I would love to participate in Drunk Town. June 1 is fine. In all likelihood I'll end up getting lost and perishing in the wilderness, but I'll try to hoard some supplies for the group.

Getting lost and perishing in the wilderness is half the fun!
Leaving on June 1st to travel down to the South West of England for my Aunts wedding. Cookies will be baked, long car journey will be had, abusing my mums allergy to cats will be done - nerve-wracking-stressful-anxiety-provoking family gathering will happen!

It's a sad fact that no matter what day we pick, someone will be left out due to circumstances. June 1st would work for me, though.
Though speaking of Tic, before I forget, can links to his walkthroughs of the Worldhaus and (in the future) Ispawnbul be put in the OP? It'd be a nice way of laying out "this is what the server is like."
Or better yet, ask Sopa what happens when a MEDIC LEAVES ME IN THE MIDDLE OF A CHARGE.

you wouldn't like me then, i have a habit of going combat medic, meaning i go in running an filling them with my syringes that heal me when i hit them.

they did NOT set the beds up, and I had to do a LOT of teleporting.
I had not logged in in forever, was looking around outside your castle, found a secret entrance. Found a sign saying "No entry, I mean it!"
hit a button to get in the door and whoops it was a trap straight into lava
Well.
I mean.
He did warn you.
I just thought I was special, since my spawn point is actually inside his castle.
clearly the button should have detected my super secret friend decoder ring and let me through
I set up beds! ...just incorrectly. ...a lot.
But yes, that was Drunk Shack. Drunk Town will be... [insert Ferret's response here]
Also: Change the link on the forum for the current thread please! (Any word on getting the RSS feed fixed for the news?)
I didn't catch your original post about it, but https://sites.google.com/site/sesurvivalminecraftserver/news/posts.xml doesn't work?
I'm told I was the best interview to date.

I would be willing to make the portal for drunktown. I can't promise it won't have any special properties, however....
I'm perfectly ok with that, where do you plan to set it?
I demand regular drunktowns
