I'm going to be running in a zombie 5k. I was thinking about trying to rig some kind of video camera to put on me when I run.
Thing is, all the cameras I see are clearly designed for people wearing equipment like helmets, or on a surf board, etc. Never the relatively minimalist stuff a runner has on. Might be worth noting that there will be mud, water, and obstacles.
Has anyone experimented with this? Any particular models or thoughts?
If you do go with GoPro, you have a whole variety of options available to you! You may choose from a chest harness, head strap, or wrist strap! The price on that head strap ain't too bad, either.
Also, if you're feeling super lucky, GoPro gives away every item they make to one person every day. There's a link to the giveaway on their homepage.
I swear I do NOT work for GoPro! I just have a friend that's used one to take all kinds of videos - lake jumping, snowboarding, boating, all of it and the videos are always entertaining.

GoPro does seem like the one to go with, though they're a little more expensive than I was hoping. I've seen the results from them, and they do take quite good quality. Hmm. Maybe I can get everyone to pitch in. Think the chest harness would be the best option. Thanks for the link!
I also recommend GoPro. A buddy of mine does pretty intense mountain biking and he tried one of the cheaper competitors first and the mic shielding was total ass. Wind noise ruined the entire thing. The GoPro has fantastic quality, though I've never used it so I can't speak to comfort/strap security/etc
You can usually get them for around £10 (or equivalent wherever you are). They're tiny - about the size of a pack of chewing gum. It's basically the kind of integrated camera and optics you get on mobile phones, plus a battery, plus a MicroSD card, with a spring clip to attach it to clothing. The quality isn't great (though probably not as bad as you think, if you're uploading to youtube or whatever it's pretty much a non-issue) and the mic isn't very well shielded, but they are extremely cheap. There are a ton of sample videos on youtube.
you can jury rig a gopro to pretty much anythign with a little ingenuity. it does come with the head strap, though the chest harness does work fairly well in keeping things steady. the head strap is fine if you are used to headlamps, but it is a bit unwieldly

Holy crap, just checked the quality. Not GoPro, but for $10 shipped it's genuinely not bad! Think I'll grab one.
