Rage of Bahamut
It's all about sending my team of five cards against some other fool's five cards to take their hard-earned treasure and money. It's about trading for super rare cards.
And yes, scantily clad anime girls.
This game grabbed me pretty quick. Now, every few waking hours I'm getting new cards and making trades. (UPDATE: I don't play anymore. It got too tedious.) This is FTP, with options to buy expensive card packs with random cards, but you get new cards every day for nothing. I haven't paid a single penny and I don't feel like I'm missing anything.
When you first register to play on your Android phone, you can enter a referral code to get a rare card and 100,000 extra rupies. The results are all the same for all the codes, but the referrer gets a rare card and money as well.
Once you create your account you get to choose a faction: Men, Demons or Gods. Take the one you like best -
you cannot change it later. It is rumored that demons slightly favor attack, gods slightly favor defense and man is balanced. I chose Man and I love it. All the factions have great cards and you can use all of them, but you get a bonus to attack or defend with cards that match your chosen faction.
You'll collect cards by questing. Questing is pretty boring, just tap tap tap to attack; a treasure chest falls from the sky and you tap again to open it. But you'll get new cards, rupies or collectable treasure, with which you can:
Evolve: Cards of the same type can be evolved into more powerful forms, i.e.: Two imps evolve into Imp+, add another imp for Imp++, and a fourth imp will raise the rarity and get a final, more powerful form.
Enhance: You can then raise the level of a card by "enhancing" it. This is where you feed common cards into the target card to raise its level and add to its attack and defense power.
Skill-up: Finally, you can level a card's Skill to increase the percentage it enhances attack or defense numbers in battle. Skills can boost the attack or defense of a single card, a particular faction, or even your whole deck; this is the difference between winning and losing pretty often.
The real strategy comes in building your deck. You can choose 5 cards for your ATK deck and 5 for your DEF deck. But you can build custom decks for each type of enemy, Divine, Demon or Man. If you guess (you can't see your opponent's deck before you attack, just their leader card) they're heavy in demon cards, you send your best anti-demon deck, based on the skills that your cards have. The real trick comes in choosing the -order- of your cards. The first card in your deck is guaranteed to activate, after that it is a diminishing percentage (see Jakarrd's section below).
When it's time to battle, you just choose your target, choose your deck, target a treasure (ALWAYS DO THIS) and tap to watch the results. You hope your card's skills go off and that your attack total is more than their defense total. That's it. Win or lose. If you lose, you might lose some rupies. If you win, you might win up to 10,000 rupies -and- steal a treasure that helps you form a set of 6, giving you a unique card.

Skill activation based on card slot:
Center card = First card placed in your deck
Left of Center = Second card placed
Right of Center = Third card placed
Left side Outside = Fourth card placed
Right side Outside = Fifth card placed
Center card = 100% proc
Left of Center = 50%
Right of Center = (2nd skill activation 45% / 3rd skill activation 30%)
Left side Outside = (2nd skill activation 25% / 3rd skill activation 15%)
Right side Outside = (2nd skill activation 20% / 3rd skill activation 10%)

My early advice is: Evolve each type of card fully once. There are archive bonuses for getting one of each card, and the +, ++ and final forms count. Think twice before sacrificing your time and rupies on low-level cards -don't bother max enhancing cards that aren't at least high normal. Wait until you've got a final evolved form that you will use for awhile.
Farm feeder cards (for enhancing cards) in Quest area 2-2. Farm money in area 4-5. Farm skill-up feeder cards in 18-4.
Update: after a card hits about level 14, it becomes more efficient to evolve your feeders into high normals and feed 10 of those into said card. The cards from 2-2 work just fine for this.
Trading:
*NEW* A Bazaar system has now been put in place. You get 5 tickets a day (you can only hold a maximum of 5 at a time) that allow you to buy or sell cards. The better the card, the more tickets it costs you to buy or sell it. This has made getting things move around is much faster. Otherwise you can only trade with fellows or order members, which costs no tickets.
Dracil put together a great Google Docs page for PAers to list their RoB name, their order and their haves/wants for trading. Check it out here:

But I was sort of expecting a little more, I dunno, interactivity or player agency. It all feels streamlined and automated to the degree that you're barely even doing anything. You put your cards in, hit a button, and see if you won or not.
It also didn't help that it runs like shit on my phone.
Basically, if you really want to get into it, you need to get to level 20 and join an order. Then it gets really fun.

It is very, very basic. I hope they add some abilities other than +/- ATK & +/- DEF.
Especially on the lower rarity cards. Even if it is an ability that barely has any effect.
Edit: Also, we had some higher level dudes leave our little growing order because we weren't big enough and I was raised up to an attack leader, and eventually got a promotion to Vice-Leader, which doesn't seem to give me any bonuses or extra order options, which is a bummer since it is a higher place of power. I want perks!
Basically, I am looking for them to add more features over cards. Also, I think the game runs like crap on everyone's phones. :P
I'll have to look into it.
"Whoops! I forgot I bookmarked Two Dark Magician Girls and One Pot of Greed!"
Yes, in the last month this is my most played game, right behind Diablo 3. I play this much more often, but maybe not for so long in a sitting.
Adding other skill effects would do wonders. Or a bit more strategy. But I do like the holy wars and dragon events. Also, how about some SOUND! Am I the only one with no sound here?
You need to ask for ATK leader back. Vice leader is worthless AFAIK. I think you can have multiple ATK leaders.
I might be lucky, but my Atrix has only crashed a few times and typically runs this like a champ.

Yep. Don't expect it to fill a ton of your time at first. Just use up your stamina and ATK power a few times a day and grow your card collection. The thing that feeds this game is your time, and it eventually gets quite cool.

That's good because MtG DotP 2012 was so sweet I got overzealous and tried the real thing for a few months. That was a terrible, terrible move.
I never could kill the final dragon boss, though. Got it down to 200k HP was the best I ever did.
Also, I placed right above the 10k mark in points so I just missed out on some rare cards.
Edit: You may become addicted and want to spend money, though. I liked the game enough that I felt happy to drop some cash to support them. (and get sweet, sweet rare cards)
The only CCG that remotely interests me is L5R, and no one plays that around here. But hey, phone versions, digital crack! ...
OMFG I just googled that and found some crazy ass youtube movie that is hilarious.... "card games on motorcycles!"

Yeah, I like the Sailor Moon Abridged cameo for that one.

Two of the best sites I've seen on RoB, by far!
I sorta had both of them... but you are right, they are great sites!
Have you been playing RoB for a while? (I think I just hit lvl 66.)
Also: welcome to PA: GnT forums!

... I have a maxed out first stage kratos and I just got 2 more of them from a booster. Would it be worth my while to max it out at every stage (ie, max out one of the other ones, combine, max the k+ and the remaining k, combine, then max) I know that's a lot of feeder cards, but so far coins don't seem to be an issue, but shouldn't doing this all the way through have significantly higher potential max/def?
BEHOLD!: https://sites.google.com/site/gamingank/home/rage-of-bahamut/atk-def-stat-calc
I just found this recently. I'm adding it to the main list. This makes decisions about which cards to max SO much easier!

I should spend all my friendship points on card packs, right? No other use for them?
I would suggest making a garbage twitter account to link your game to.
Between the login bonus, the twitter bonus, and supporting a handful of fellows you can grab 5 free cards a day, easy.
Don't bother enhancing or evolving your feeder cards when enhancing. You'll come out behind (read: less xp gain in the end) if you bother upgrading your feeder cards. Just use whatever you have on hand. 90% of my enhancing is fed with cards that I get from good old Quest 2-5.

/facepalm
That's actually not too horrible, even if it does hurt a bit when money gets low. Eight at once kinda sucks, though. At least you didn't enhance with some awesome card as a feeder -that's my worst nightmare in this game.

This is great advice. I created one about a week into the game, and the extra rupies and cards certainly get used.

oh well, I got like 4 more in the most recent holy war. I also found some cashcow players who haven't spent shit in defense, have no fellows, and don't seem to notice that I'm taking all their gold as often as I can. I feel kind of bad doing it but man are they asking for it. . .

Edit: I'd appreciate it if you let my friend invite code suffice here for my efforts in creating the thread and helping folks out. Apparently it's not in "Teh Rules" (see post below; I thought that everybody loved taking dictation around here?), but it'd be mighty cool of you.
I added you in Mobage. I can't send help until you're level 10, but I'll see what I can do when you get there.

Added! I deleted some guy I started with who has apparently stopped playing. This initially removes 5 points from my top stat (ATK/DEF/Stamina), but I will get them back when I get a new Fellow to replace the one I removed.
However, if you have to delete a Fellow, don't delete more than one in a 24 hour period. For each additional that you delete after the 1st, you lose 6 stat points, but you still only get 5 back. So you will lose a stat point permanently.
tl;dnr: don't remove Fellows.

This game offers some interesting options when it comes to making deals. It's a free market, and rates change often depending on the current promotions or events. Holy powder and cure water are the main currency, along with cards that people want. Occasionally people are into rupies, but usually people over level 50 or so don't care about them too much.
Start by going into your Fellows on your main page, then click on a fellow. Hopefully he has a wishlist and you can see 3 cards he wants. Next, choose Trade. Add a card in the top section to see what he has available. If you see something you like, add it, but pay attention to what he's up to by looking at all of his cards. Is he leveling up a particular card? Does he have a 3rd form evolved card and is missing a card that you have? Is he collecting High-Normal cards that have skills? Try to get a feel for what he's trying to accomplish.
Next, add a card to your section and try to offer something he might want. Don't trade away your best cards lightly; cards stuck in trade can't be used until you cancel the trade, or the other party accepts or cancels. If one of these cards is in your defense deck... the enemy gets a power-play.

This page is constantly changing as people are posting and bumping their lists. They'll tell you what they have and (hopefully) what they want for it. I've made some pretty good trades, and later in the game it's way easier than trying to find a fellow with something you want.

So, I waited the requisite 24 hours and just deleted one of my Fellows a few hours ago. Now I have room for one more fellow. Hey, I just got an invite a little while ago from you to add you as a fellow!
Should I accept it, or am I part of y'all?

I am still not terribly sure what I'm doing. I'm level 19, Stamina is at 26, Attack is at 19, and Defense is at 24. I've got 4-5 cards evolved to their final forms and have even started enhancing a few of them.
