The new forums will be named Coin Return (based on the most recent vote)! You can check on the status and timeline of the transition to the new forums here.
The Guiding Principles and New Rules document is now in effect.
I'm having sort of a private argument with some friends, and thought I'd do a little informal survey.
Where do you go to get reviews and information about upcoming titles? Do you have a favoured site, or do you go to an aggregator like gamerankings?
Please include a reason. Without justification for your choice you might as well not post. I don't mod here anymore, but I have no intention of creating a poll thread.
Here. Everybody here monitors blogs (Joystiq, Kotaku, etc...) and the gaming sites (1up, GameSpot) and then post the info here. We also have people on the inside.
We get this thread every few months, the answers are always the same.
I also have Kotaku and Google News (set to Gaming / Technology) RSS feeds on my personalized google homepage, for the breaking stuff.
Used to visit games.slashdot.org and joystiq every day, the same, but recently, not so much, I just get more stuff from the other sources.
And of course, the forums here and at 360arcadians. Because, as SniperGuy said: "You people scan shit faster than I friggen can." -- AKA, the hive mind structure of a forum is fucking powerful stuff.
I usually head down to EBGames or the Independant Retailer and get the release dates from there. It also provides a source of what new games are comming out.
Other than that, I have created my JRPG thread and from numerious blogs and such. Nothing in particular just whatever I can find.
I get it from IGN and whatever thread is in here. Mostly IGN. I know most people here hate it and I completely understand most of it. The thing it was the first gaming site I went to when I first got the internet. It used to go by N64.com, and I feel like I've grown with the site.
I even have a username on their boards, but don't post much. Save a few people, it is mostly a retard festival over there.
Between here and the SomethingAwful forums, I'm kept well abreast. Gamespy and IGN long ago became obsolete for keeping up with breaking news, and there are too many Blogs for me to track myself.
The forums are a good source, but honestly, we don't cover everything. I go to IGN often. Even though I hate their reviews, they drop news fairly quickly and often. Gamespy is favorite, too, since I actually like their writing. They don't drop news as often, however.

For game news, etc, I get it all from here. I don't bother scouring the rest of the web because other people are doing it for me and they generally post about it here.
As far as actual pieces on games, as in previews or reviews, I just use Gamespot. I feel like their staff is small enough that I've read many pieces by each of their writers, and I'm comfortable with that. IGN is the only real competitor when it comes to previews and reviews, but I don't know anything about any of their writers, so I stick with Gamespot.
I go to IGN for their volume of info and 1UP for second opinions and because I recognize a few of their journalists. Other than that, kotaku and joystiq fulfill my all-day coverage needs.
I come here to talk about stuff and catch the occasional web fad/bit of news/etc.
1Up for reviews/previews and the rest is all from here.
Please include a reason. Without justification for your choice you might as well not post.
The reason I read 1Up over other gaming sites is because I've listened to 1Up Yours and watched the 1Up Show for quite a while now, so I know a lot of the people who write the articles, so I enjoy reading from those people since I can identify with them, where at other sites I can't.
So it feels more like your reading information from friends, or people you know, instead of a faceless website.
I usually throw on Joystiq and Kotaku a few times a day for the latest gaming news. I really don't like either of them from an editorial stand point (Their cynicism bleeds a little too deeply into their writing), but it's easy enough to tune that out and just pay attention to the facts.
For gaming editorials, I'm all over the weekly offerings at 1up. 1up does what G4TV could never do: Make interesting "television" out of games. They take a diverse bunch of bright editors, pick some gaming topics and discuss at length. That's all I've wanted in a gaming show for the longest time. Intelligent discussion of the great medium we call games. The podcasts offer up similar awesomeness, and the production values aren't too shabby, either.
For 360 and PS3 related pictures and videos, I generally hit Xboxyde (Worst website name ever) and Playsyde.

Gamespot used to be my number one place for game reviews, but I've since stopped. It seems every editor in that place has to agree that game X deserves score Y, and you get that feeling from listening to the podcast. There is hardly a word of dissent in an hour and a half of gaming discussion. (Hell, somewhere in their site is a paragraph that says something along the lines of, "Our review scores are the final word on a game's quality, and no other opinion is valid.)
The Penny Arcade Forums and 1up are really the places to go for game reviews, so long as you take the time to understand each poster and editor's point of view. (Slighty harder to know everyone's point of view on these boards, but you get my drift.)
I read the forums, because chances are somebody has already read some good news and posted about it here.
If i don't, I go read Nintendo World Report for my Nintendo news, because they have a good relationship with Nintendo. I read HBO (halo.bungie.org) for my Halo news, because it's the biggest and most complete halo fansite out there. I read it's forums for good Xbox tidbits.
As well as 1UP, Gamespot, and IGN for exclusive previews, reviews, videos, etc.
Also, I don't want to be a whore, but me and another guy are doing the gaming news (I also write opinion pieces) for the site that is linked in my sig pic, and we're pretty darn up to the minute. If you want to support the little guy give us a bookmark.
NeoGAF and Penny Arcade. One of the two will pick up something the other doesn't have, but it's only a matter of time before they both have the info. I do seem to notice that NeoGAF is first with the info most of the time.
I'm not sure how else to describe it other than like this.
NeoGAF is like the five senses of the human body, that is, they absorb information from all different kinds of sources and at an incredible rate. It seems that when something is going to happen, everyone looks to NeoGAF and then post the info onto other sites. I mean, just look at what they do with all the sales numbers, and most recently PlayStation HOME.
Penny-Arcade is like the brain to the human body, in that we seem to be able to analyze all of the infomation that is discovered very well and consistently, without having to resort to insulting each other in some way. This place is tops when it comes to civility. And any humor we use is the type that everyone can understand. There's hardly any inside/xenophobic jokes unless it's for a blantant rule-breaker, and that's fine with me.
That's pretty much why I post here. NeoGAF's a great place to visit, but I don't know if I'd want to be a part of their discussions, at least not in their Off-Topic part. That place has something bizarre every other day.
But if I need to look up something specific for a game, that usually goes to IGN/Gamespot/Wikipedia.
I avoid Kotaku because it's a piece of crap site. Other than that, anything's fair game. I admittedly don't really check gaming news that often. I just read the press releases that come into my email.

GameTab for me. That way I can look at the headlines to see if there's anything interesting without going to all the individual websites and dig through them.
Eurogamer is also my preferred website, mainly for review and writing quality.
I also use GamesRadar, mainly because they're the other big UK site I know of, and I like knowing what's out here.
Otherwise, lots of places. This forum's one of 'em.
Those 3 cover pretty much every aspect of game news. From in depth reporting and features (1up) to quick and dirty headlines fast and right then and there (Kotaku) to rumours and new screens and media (Joystiq)
That said, like everyone else, one glance at G+T at any big event, like during e3 or GDC or anything, is easily enough to get your fill. I remember at e3 G+T exploded during the keynotes for each company.

I'M A TWITTER SHITTER
Kotaku and Joystiq are helpful for quick scans of random going-ons, gamespot can scan for a specific console, etc.
Other than that, I have created my JRPG thread and from numerious blogs and such. Nothing in particular just whatever I can find.
I fixed my post.
I even have a username on their boards, but don't post much. Save a few people, it is mostly a retard festival over there.

Usually if one site doesn't report something the other will.
Forums are truly marvelous.
I come here to talk about it.
For news I look at www.destructoid.com daily.

Why? Because they're the only gaming sites I go to. Still, I think that between the two, I'm kept pretty well-informed.
