So, my iphone's case has seen it's last leg now (some sort of dual soft + hard silicone thing that's just cracked to shit) and lost most of it's structural stability and is just the soft silicone sleeve now. Anyone have any good recommendations on where to pick up a case online? Something not $80 and maybe something with a cool design.
The cell phone store and mall cart selections are lackluster since I'm not a teenage girl.

There are a ton of iPhone cases on there for pretty cheap, not sure what exactly you are looking for though

Is it one of those super duper Otter Box style cases you're looking for, or was your case just the one that had the rubber cover for the back and sides, with a piece of plastic that just covered most of the back in kind of an "X" shape?
It was a full case, not really caring if I replicate it just to prevent it from smashing to pieces if I drop it like a fool on carpet or something. Somewhat similar to a mix between your X example and french's.

It is extremely simple. Hard plastic. Every-so-slightly transparent. It just snaps on as there is a very, very slight ridge along the front. What I have always liked about it is that it barely looks like I have a case, and it is very easy to remove for whatever reason. I have never, ever had it fall off inadvertendly, and I have dropped my phone many, many times. Carpet. Hardwood. Ceramic tile. Concrete.
The phone itself is still pristine, but the case has a few scuffs around the corners.
This also happens to be one of the cases that Apple was giving away back when the antennae issue was at large.
Edit: Looking at reviews there, it looks like there are knockoffs of this case out there. Beware when shopping.
What the hell is the difference between the deflector and capsule? Think mine was a deflector style but had a silicone sleeve behind it.
There are some slick looking cases on that site.
Deflector cases are a 1-sided snap-on style, while capsules are two pieces that snap the phone together. Pretty sure that the former is needed if you want to dock your phone without removing the case.
That is what I had, which would you recommend @Figgy ?
I would go with the deflector (1 piece), with the caveat that I have no idea about the quality of the cases on that site, and a deflector-style case needs to fit really, really well. Make sure to look up reviews for the cases from that site, specifically related to fit.
The front of your phone is extremely durable, anyway. I see no need for a front piece (capsule style) unless you are in construction or something and your phone takes a serious beating (then go with an Otter). Deflector style cases almost always have a raised bevel so that when you put the phone face down on a surface, it is not resting on the glass.
edit: I also prefer hard-style cases as opposed to silicone in general. I had silicone for my old Blackberry, and I hated taking my phone out of my pocket and thus turning the pocket inside out.
It's landed on it's face before so that raised bevel might be useful, hm.
Again, I have dropped my phone on concrete a few times (trying to juggle things while unlocking my front door, etc.) and it is still in pristine condition because of my deflector style case.
I do like that style (I don't dock it) Think it'll be okay figgy?
I would go for it. If I wasn’t planning on a new phone soon, I would be sifting through that site right now. And their return policy seems more than fair:

Personally I'd really like something like that.
