Help us find a new Mass Mailer / Event registration solution

So my company is looking for alternatives to Informz on two fronts: Mass emailing and Event registration. There's a lot of problems with informz as a platform so we're testing the waters and the only dual solution I can find right now is Constant Contact. Any others other there? Anyone use constant contact?

    salesforce is a pretty good platform for this. It might take some custom setup (read: money) to get it to do what you want though, and my understanding is that it's a little expensive if you don't have some kind of sweetheart NPO deal
