So i just got my notice of monetary compensation for my unemployment application. Whatever the reason actually was, it is listed that the expectations were reasonable and that I didn't fulfill them. I am wondering if this information is public, and if when applying for new jobs I have to list if is was fired on the application because they might be able to check?

In California - and perhaps this has changed - you have to list the places you applied for work. If you didn't, you have to list why. They of course can't check everyone, but people do get audited.

I doubt your state has a database that all employers use; what they can do is call the people you've called and check up on you and whether you turned down any offers.

As somebody who just got off unemployment in CA a month ago this is not true.

There is a box on the form you have to mail back to them every two weeks to keep receiving benefits, if that box has an X in it you have to list the places where you have applied for work, otherwise you just answer the normal list of questions Yes/No by checking the boxes, list any compensation for hours you worked, etc. sign it, seal it, stamp it, mail it, and the claim continues.

I was on unemployment for 5 months and that box never had an X in it.

I was on unemployment for like a year back in 2010, you just fill in where you applied or even just looked for work, and they send you a check. They never once called to check up on anything, ever. It's pretty straightforward, and there's no way that future employers can find out that you were ever on it as long as you don't want to disclose it.
