When gamer memes are used as way of connecting with people who are shy, fearful, or otherwise aversion to human connection, then the result is a net benefit.
When gamer memes are used as a way of seperating people who understand the memes from those who do not; as if the former are somehow more intelligent or better than the latter, then the result is a net deficit.
It is unfortunate that memes and in-jokes are used as ways of driving wedges between people.

Ok, that's reasonable.
It can be annoying to encounter the type of person that uses them as a sense of humour subsitute, though, and that isn't uniquely a gamer/anti-gamer thing. It goes for people, for example, whose entire repertoire of jokes are Simpsons quotes as well.

also the place managed to make me and the other friend who went feel old
and we're 20 and 21 respectively
it might have been because we like, expected there to be a bar and we'd enjoy a couple beers, and when we get there, one girl is drinking from her bottle in a bag (not sure if there's a point to doing that here) and another walked around with a bottle of vodka with a drinking straw and all of them were either younger than us or wierder than us or both of the above
a couple of his songs made me cringe at some points
but mostly it was p good
and he had one I really liked which I'm trying to find now and I can't which is annoying
