How do you create Alternating Avatar Images

edited June 2012 in Help / Advice Forum
I have seen several people here with avatars that seem to alternate through a series of images.

I was wondering if this is something that can be easily set up in the profile area. I looked but could not find anything.

Or do I need to somehow create a specific jpeg with all the images pre attached?

Any advice would be great.

Thanks!

Do you mean an animated gif?

People used to be able to have rotating avatars by setting up a script somewhere (on a webserver they had access to) that would return a randomly selected image when the script URL was accessed.

I didn't think it was possible to do that anymore, though since the Vanilla forums seem to require you to upload an image instead of providing an image URL.

Its not an animated GIF from what I can tell.

What you explained Japan makes sense because the image does not change until you refresh the thread or go to the next page etc.

the URL link for a profile pic got grandfathered in with the vanilla forum switch, unless they changed it, you can't do it now

You can, but the image size MUST be 80x80 when it's uploaded. If you rely on the server to resize it, it will not be animated.
