[PATV] Friday, June 22, 2012 - Penny Arcade: The Series Season 3, Ep. 32: Season Finale
Tastefully straddling the line between documentary and guilty-pleasure voyeurism, Penny Arcade: The Series collects the bizarre continuum of one of the world's strangest companies. In this week's episode Mike and Jerry talk about the early days of Penny Arcade.
Great episode, but not my favorite season. I like 4th Panels, but not as 2/3rds of all episodes. I miss the rest of the crew! Will be exciting to see how Season 4 shapes up.
My, Robert's final words in this were quite... foreboding. My anticipation could not be greater, this is probably one of the best web series I watch.

I agree with Slugger John, I would have liked more non-4th panels. Not that I don't love them. Also, next season can you get a better intro song? This season's had no groove to it. Game of Thrones. The Office. Some other good show. What do they all have in common? A bad-ass intro. In fact... bring back the season 2 intro. It was great!
I really enjoyed this season. Keep up the good work!
I remember seeing a interview with Mic Jagger of the Rolling Stones from the early seventies where he said about still making music and touring at 50 and 60 etc and all the audience laughed! well who is laughing now eh? You are never to old to do what you love IMHO
One is never too old to walk out on stage to Every Day I'm Hustlin'.
This man right here speaks truthiness.
I must say though, if the comic evolved as we all grew older, that would be pretty amazing. I envision a lot of strips about "newfangled" inventions in the realms of gaming and technology and how they've ruined everything.
This is probably my favourite shows of the past two years, and here is why for all the insane antics and larger than life ping-pong episodes. There is always present the bitter-sweet melancholy of reality wafting through each episodes. The dizzying highs of the fourth panel are anecdotal to the series and ground some of the deep emotions that these people feel. And this may sound cliche, but there's a reason for cliches they work so well, I can relate to you guys. Beautiful series, amazing work and long may it bring you happiness.
-P.S. That last line from Robert got me into a fit of giggles in its stark contrast to the finality of season two's ending...
I actually liked that there were a lot of 4th panels this season. That's definitely my favourite segment, and I was a big fan of the old podcast. The more the merrier, I say.

I will literally never not be pleased to see a new 4th Panel.
As a whole season 3 has been nowhere near as good as the first two seasons (with season 1 still being the best). 4th panel is good, but not as the majority of the episodes. Just seems like a lazy way to get a lot of content without much work being put into it.

I think they're just running out of fresh subjects to do episodes about. But like I said, I have never failed to enjoy 4th Panel. Would I like to see other stuff? Yes. But my first preference would be other stuff in addition to a crapload of 4th Panels, not other stuff because of a reduction of 4th Panels.

I hope those "situations that are not the norm" involve a closer look at their merchandising, and goes beyond Penny Arcade: The Polo Shirt and Penny Arcade: The Warehouse.
Penny Arcade: The Coloring Book, Penny Arcade: The Flame Thrower!

The kids love this one!
But yeah, that Khoo quote was mysterious. Imagine the possibilities!
I am not surprised that the golfers would intentionally try to hit Gabe. They were probably just trying to take out their rage from playing golf.
Seriously, I don't understand the appeal of that game. I have never heard a person who plays golf sound happy when they're talking about playing it. In much the same way, I have never seen a person running who looked anything other than vaguely miserable.

It'd be great.
It would be great. I hope Penny Arcade continues to grow as a company.
However from reading what Jerry has written in the past about the new technologies that have emerged since writing the strip I believe he would be more welcoming of the future of gaming than anything else. Perhaps even slightly envious of younger generations since they will be around to see where the human imagination takes the media longer than he will.
The clip from the Q&A was in response to the question "what's the grossest thing that's ever happened to you?" However, they didn't include the second half of the response, which should be required viewing. It starts at 14:30 in this video:

Every golfer I've talked to has sounded happy when talking about the game.
I have yet to see a golfer who was happy when playing the game.
OK, I'll give you that. It seems to me the entire point is to be completely awful at the game and be on the verge of a nervous breakdown every time you play just so that you get some sort of perverse enjoyment from talking about how much you suck to other golfers.

Yeah, you're probably right. As funny as it would be to see "Back in my day, we played games in THREE dimensions. Kids got no respect for linearity anymore!", it seems that, at least among the more informed crowd, there is a curiosity and respect for cutting edge technology. I mean, there are exceptions among the previous generation, sure. I've heard of some WW2 vets enjoying some Xbox (lol thanks Reddit!), and even my own father was pretty mystified when I went off to school almost a decade ago, and he discovered he could play Tiger Woods golf when it was too dark to go play a real round. But it seems those examples are few and far between amongst our elders. It's very cool that our generation looks to be different in that regard.

I haven't golfed in like two years because I don't have any money anymore, but golf is fun. Golf is only not fun if you 1) are bad at golf and 2) care that you are bad at golf.
I love the music... have loved the chip-tune style for ten years. Thanks for bringing it back to the niche-mainstream.
Huh, that's an oddly accurate oxymoron I think, for popular Internet things.
Every time a season ends I get a bit sad. Mike and Jerry's comments about what they'd be doing in 14 years says it all. One day, each part of their operation will sort of phase out or be handed off (rightly so) as they find they aren't interested or rather it isn't as fun any more. All I can say is I hope it's still a few more years off.
*watching the driving scenes*
I don't know why, but seeing that pesky fly (I hate flies) squashed against the windshield...absolute win!
Gabe is cruising down to town, swatting away all the little gnats in his way to glory.

Thank you
I fantasize about Mike and Jerry, but instead of having sex we eat bread sticks.

At least the third game is coming up next week to tide us over...
This was a good episode.
They will still be into dick jokes at 50. Absolutely.

"Yeah..."
Better yet - bring back the podcast. I still have all the old Downloadable Content eps on my iPod.
