Activating a Gamefly game on Steam

I bought GTA IV from Gamefly during one of their sales a week ago or so and read somewhere you can activate it on Steam but they didn't leave instructions on how to do it. I'd rather do this than keep it on the Gamefly launcher because most all of my other games are on Steam and I like to keep them all in once place. Anyone know how to go about doing this?

You can't actually activate GTA4 onto your Steam account (the list of games that you can is here). However, if all you care about it is being able to run it from the Steam client, you can add external games by press "+Add a Game" on the bottom left corner of steam and selecting "Add a Non-Steam Game."

Thanks. I guess adding it as a non-Steam game will work, as long as I don't have to launch it using the Gamefly client.

The good news is the GTA series goes on sale pretty often, so you can rebuy it on Steam (and the 2 expansions) for very cheap and join the rest of us that buys games again just to have a Steam copy. The Summer Sale is almost upon us, so look for it to possibly be on sale then, but wait to see if it's a daily deal before you buy it, unless it's the last day of the sale.

Concerning adding external games to Steam: Has anyone else experienced the problem of those games disappearing from their lists at random intervals? I've had mine get lost after reboots and the like.

Yup. Happens to me all the time. I've given up on it and just created taskbar shortcuts for games.
