You can these codes on Player Status, then go to "View promotional unlocks" . At the bottom it will tell you which button/key you need to press to show the method to enter the codes.
The goblin deck is a ton of fun, the only one I've gotten anywhere toward actually fully unlocking. I one-shot Bolas with it in the campaign with T1 Goblin Guide, T2 two tokens, T3 Goblin Chieftan, T4 Piledriver kick Bushwhacker.
Granted that's about as perfect a draw as that deck is ever going to get, but still. In a game that skews toward longer more interactive games than real-life MTG does, dealing 40 by Turn 4 is nutso.
Also, iPad implementation is really nice as far as I can tell so far. Not perfect, as some of the card scrolling and choosing is choppy and weird, but there hasn't been a time yet where I wanted to do something and couldn't.
I like the game, and planechase, but I preferred the decks from 2012 and even more the decks from the original. I wish they would let you use the OLD decks, at least against the computer. Heck, they could even have 'formats' just like they do in the real world. So you could play 'current' (only 2013 decks),'legacy' (2012-2013 decks) or 'antiquity (all decks)
I just don't find that there is a deck in the new version which plays how I like, which is to say I love to pile creatures high with tokens and use the tribal bonuses etc.
One day they will finally have to relent and give us a bit more freedom in how we pick cards.
I'm kind of glad they don't let the previous version decks allowed in. Some of the DLC extra packs in 2012 had some balance issues.
Edit: in Magic this normally doesn't matter because you can build to take care of those decks. but in Duels you don't have as much options and a really powerful deck can tear the board apart.

Which is why I think that they should be 'single player only'. While I agree some of them were just silly compared to others, when I play the decks I like in this version they don't do the things I like to do.

I forget the deck but I even felt cheap playing it against the AI it was so over the top.
I agree with you though I had a hard time finding a deck I liked in 2012 until the end there so I understand the sentiment. I guess I got lucky in that a few of these look more playable to me.

Maybe I've just played enough magic that I immediately saw that deck for what it was and could play it well. It did have an excellent curve. I really didn't jive with Jace's in 2012 but Jace's first deck in the original was one of my favorites.

I've been playing on the iPad and it works really well on it. CCG's always seemed like natural fits for the device, and they did a pretty great job with their first entry. If anyone wants to multi hit me up on Game Center at Bullio Marf.
Apparently the DLC has been mined and the cards that are in it have been posted elsewhere.
Yeah, they guys that discovered it found that there also 10 cards pending to be unlocked for the current decks. It seems to be tied to special codes given to players that attend Friday Night Magic events sadly.
I hope that is not the case. If they release more powerful decks like Nicol Bolas, they might use those last unlocks to balance power creep.
Or they might be extra unlocks included in the first DLC. The previous version added some cards and decks the first time and the Ravnica expansion content seems similar.

I love this new incarnation. Planechase is a fun format that I don't get to play often enough, simply because more people have to have plane cards VS the one archenemy deck.
Anyways, I definitely like the balance more this time around compared to 2012 - some decks were just awful in the last one (dragons, koth's deck, garruk's deck).
Jace's 2013 deck is just brutal with how quick it can mill someone. Played a buddy and he started with two chancellors, so I started the game with 14 cards in my graveyard already, and a Jace's Phantasm on turn 1 just did me in.
Honestly, the weakest deck might be Yeva's or Lillianas. Even then, they have some nasty cards.
EDIT: Also finally defeated Nicol Bolas in revenge mode. What a D-bag. Turn 1 and he plays land + 4 mox cards. Almost as bad as Karn with his turn 2 Darksteel Colossus'.
In the previous one I tried to optimize the Dragon deck. It sucks solo but it shined in two-headed giant. But it can be excruciating due to the poor land balance and most of the dragons sucking.

Also, the card rewards for each version are hilariously out of balance. If you have a PS3, you would be silly not to buy it for PS3, since you get a free Vampire Nocturnis.
Hmm I liked the previous games except for the bugginess. When I tried playing with my friend online, one or both of us would crash out of the game pretty frequently. I'm a bit skeptical about buying a new version when stuff like that was never fixed as far as I know in the previous ones.

I hope they don't tie it into attending anything, because I won't be doing that. I would pay $$ instead though.
They won't. They want you to play M:tG Online and/or the card game if you want customization.
Also, it would cost more than 10 dollars.
AHAHAHA. I'm not touching that thing again. And as for paper Magic, I've given that up.
2012 and 2013 do a very effective job of trying to suck people in to the real deal. Hoo boy.
I mean I'm still going to the Prerelease on the weekend of July 7th. Prerelease equals Sealed tourney, those are fantastic. But the standard Friday Night Magic play is a curbstompy money sink.
For those who don't know, Sealed is when you pay a fee of around 26$ (less if you prepay,) and each player gets several booster packs, and you open them, make the best deck(s) you can and play exclusively with those cards for the rest of the event. These events happen for the major prereleases, such as when the 2013 prerelease happens in two weeks. These events are an absolute blast, and I will go, play once and not go back until the next one.
Friday Night Magic is Standard play. You go, play a fee of six bucks and can participate in a tournament of the currently released set and the sets of cards going back approximately a year. This is where the curbstomping and money sinking happens.
There are other options if you want full deck customization. Apprentice and Magic Workstation are the two that immediately come to mind, and there's a single player with AI one called Magarena that I just found out about today.
So I've played (and spent a ton of money on) MTG:O; is this basically everyone has same cards, and it's skill/random deck generation that wins the day?
So I've played (and spent a ton of money on) MTG:O; is this basically everyone has same cards, and it's skill/random deck generation that wins the day?
It's premade decks with limited customization. There's a goblin deck, but you can unlock a bunch of different goblins to customize the speed, power, and secondary abilities as desired. But no matter how you customize it, it's going to primarily be a goblin deck.
I was in the first planeshifting level and was using Jace's mill deck. The computer characters all played well to help me mill one guy as they all killed each other and shifted planes enough to get me in good position.
At the end it's me versus Anaji's life gain deck and we are on some plain that doesn't really effect either of our decks. I mill him to 0 zero cards on his last turn and he has almost enough to swing with everything and kill me, played an enchantment to boost a creature to have enough damage to kill me then starts rolling the plane dice and hits a plane that doesn't allow characters over 7 power to attack which stops him from winning. The next turn I mill him to win while he had almost 200 health.

Exactly, so there might be an exalted deck, or a landfall deck, or an elves deck.
But this year there is no "my creatures are all now 1232312/12313142 thanks to me having 1000 elf buffing elfs deck" and that was the deck I liked to play the AI with.

Still... that White/Black deck looks like it could be interesting.
B/W is fun. It has a few bad match ups if you run Silent Arbiter but it is a good exalted deck.

Beknighted. That was the deck. I couldn't lose with that thing. I could have my cat run across the controller and still win.

Other people would say that Jace's deck was the deck.
3x Jace vs anyone on the Archenemy campaign was wicked.

A recommendation for console players, don't play 4 player Planechase. 3 players is the way to go. More agile.
