What is the deal with sloths? I don't really know all that much about them
I guess they are the slovenly neckbeards of the animal kingdom
Exhibit A:
apparently, sloths are so lazy that they don't even clean themselves. I once heard about a guy who had to be taken to a hospital when a sloth fell on him because it just so ridden with bacteria
why did we name a deadly sin after these weird things? how did people in, like, Europe a thousand years ago even know about them
actually, are there European sloths? I kind of assumed that they only lived in south america and australia and maybe asia
this is the sloth thread about sloths and my sloth ignorance
Sloths' bizarre 'toilet habit' recorded in Amazon, Peru
The extraordinary behaviour, recorded on at least 25 occasions in the Amazon rainforest of Peru, has stumped the biologists who witnessed it.
The sloths either crawl into the latrine to feed from it or scoop out the excrement and waste within.
gonna need some ~real~ evidence to persuade this here athiest, yes sir
From Wikipedia:
Taxonomy and names
The sloth's taxonomic suborder is Folivora, while some call it Phyllophaga. Both names mean "leaf-eaters"; derived from Latin and Greek respectively. Names for the animals used by tribes in Ecuador include Ritto, Rit and Ridette, mostly forms of the word "sleep", "eat" and "dirty" from Tagaeri tribe of Huaorani.

They gave up on the study after like a year of the sloth not doing a damn thing.
True story.

so many slow animals in this world
do you have any evidence to back this assertion up, sir
The bible predates the majority of modern animal nomenclature by, like, a couple thousand years.

Secret Satan 2013 Wishlist
The Earth was more heavily oxygenated back then and it made things bigger somehow.
Dinosaurs mated with normal-sized mammals
That makes sense. Larger stuff requires more power. We had to get smaller as power was getting less abundant (less oxygen).
And the era of Dwarf Fortress will begin.
what about the penguin men, lizard men, olm men, and cave swallowmen
