OK so Age of Ultron is set in the current 616 Marvel U? I appreciate them limiting the tie-ins and all but it's gonna be a bit weird that while this story is going on the rest of the books aren't going to follow it.

Man it just feels like Marvel can't win with this
either the events have too many tie-ins and books and books internal storylines are bogged down by it or they limit the tie ins to specifically marked books and the event feels like it doesn't have actual impact
also Brevoort responded to someone asking if the New Universe character Starbrand was coming back by posting that Avengers cover with the purple lightning
On further inspection this has to be the teaser poster for Avengers 2. Its to perfect to pass up.
Put Thor behind cap and ant man on an arrow and we're set.
Holy crap that such nice art. It's amazing how much better Cap looks there compared to in Uncanny Avengers. No, I'll put it right out- Cap's costume (the SAME costume!) looks retarded in Uncanny Avengers. What the hell happened to Cassaday?
It actually isn't the same costume. For some reason Cap is rocking two outfits in Now. The Uncanny Avengers/solo look and the look up there Jerome Opena designed for Avengers.
Modern coloring does not do Bagley any favors - I feel like a lot of his linework gets knocked out with colorist tricks (same thing happened to Byrne's last Marvel / DC work).

so
yeah
Hickman's using the New Universe
I hope the next scene is just Reed trying to get the Ultrons off with some fancy windshield wipers.
The characters aren't that unbelievable. Just imagine evil versions of Franklin and Valeria Richards and every other pre-teen hero, then add the unlimited resources of super-wealth.
The only thing that bothers me is that the characters aren't too distinct from each other in terms of personality, except for the girl who's one-note. I also don't really see a compelling motive for them to go after the X-Men within those personalities. Maybe I missed something, but it seems like they mostly just want to make money and cause chaos, and there are already tons of villains who are into that.
It's kind of like Fraction started with the idea that there needed to be a new Hellfire Club and then decided that they should be kids, all without asking why the Hellfire Club would be good villains for this version of the X-Men at this point in time.
However, the creation of a rival school in response to the return of mutants is pretty good, though. I'm very keen to see the younger X-Men go up against villains their own age rather than older foes

Fraction didn't create them, Jason Aaron did.
and I guess I should have been more specific. I really like Kade Kilgore and Frankenstein Jr, the other 2 yeah I dont give much of a shit about.
There isn't a single NOW book I've disliked so far, and they're all doing so much better at world building than the DC books did, while still being new reader friendly. The only book that really feels bogged down by past continuity is, somewhat ironically, Uncanny Avengers.
I'll try and sample them all, but unfortunately at $4 an issue, and with most of them double-shipping, I probably won't be able to pick as many as I'd like.
Read Thor, All-New X-Men and Uncanny Avengers 2 tonight, along with FF1. Every single one of them left me really excited for what will happen next; something that has rarely happened with DC's post relaunch stuff.
I am jazzed for Hickman's Avengers titles, the new X-Forces, Uncanny's return, and the two Cosmic Books, even though those alone will probably crush me. I'll definitely have to give Avengers Arena an issue or two as well.
Digital codes make me wish I had a friend that loved to collect physical books but couldn't care less about digital codes. I would gladly pay $1 or so for each code every month.
Instead I have no friends, at least locally, that read comics.

personally, I prefer the latter.
Goddamn Hickman.
Just
Goddamn
(so awesome)

Some do a very good job though...

I think Bagley's Ultrons look fine.
ohhhhhhh my god what the hell that last page.
I hope the next scene is just Reed trying to get the Ultrons off with some fancy windshield wipers.

They're great in that I can't stand them when they're on a page
Maybe under a different writer, but Jason Aaron isn't good at clever writing (see: everything the girl in the Hellfire club says)
I like the idea behind them and their constant failure benefiting the school though.
Why is that even a crazy thing? Marvel has relitivly common space flight.
I garrantee you a Casino is one of the first stupid attraction we shoot into space.
Its an alien casino nowhere near earth.

however the rest of Wolverine and the X-Men is good enough to compensate
If Fox was smart they'd use this as the basis for a new movie. Even coming off the third it would work okay.
Honestly I think what Fox is doing now is pretty smart.
Days of Future Past just makes so much sense here.
X-men 3 ends with us in what is pretty close to a nightmare future and they have a prequel to work with.
Give the original universe an end, make a soft reboot and they are even leading up to it with The Wolverine.
Fraction didn't create them, Jason Aaron did.

man, it's good

"Ride or Die" confirmed Dominic Toretto, as they took off to find the Dragon Balls in hopes of reviving their friend Sonic
But
Shit I can have those comics on my phone and read them anytime anywhere and what if I need them
Instead I have no friends, at least locally, that read comics.
I was going to input them all when I re-organized my long boxes, but I may see if I can sell them instead...
