What sorts of things do you want to learn how to do with it?

Do you have experience with Photoshop or any similar program?

i have basically no experience i could just do with something that could help me out with the whole thing really, like i dont know how to use layers so i do them all in one. I am pretty new at using computers for more than just games really but really want to learn because drawing is something that i really enjoy.

I don't have any personal experience, but from what I've read from other "how can I learn this program" threads, the key is figuring out specific things you want to do first, then finding tutorials or lessons on how to do those specific things in said program. Mainly because the programs are vast and have so many features/options that learning the entire thing is a bit cumbersome and unrealistic.

Pretty much this. Except I will add that you need to explore each tool as you use it, at least a bit. Don't just follow tutorials step by step mindlessly.

So you mainly want to use it for drawing? Do you have a stylus/tablet?

you may also want to look at paint.net... it's a bit simpler, but significantly easier to pick up. Does less, but I find it buttloads easier to learn with
