I just played a game recently as Egypt and set up an empire that just churned out Wonders.
Midgame the Iroquoi and British were pissed with me and I couldn't work out why since I'd been giving them fairly generous terms while I did my own thing.
Then when they jointly denounced me before declaring war upon me I checked their greivances.
Turns out they were ticked off that I kept building Wonders that they wanted. A few turns later the list of most wondrous Civs appears.
There I am at the top with 18, and the Brits are the only other Civ with one.
Oh noes @dahkath sent me the nightwing dlc too! Sorry buddy, blackbird sent it to me earlier. I've been unable to accept as I'm away from my computer. My God, the level class in here is nuts!
I have a non-Steam version. Seeing it on Steam today gave me a little itch to play, so I decided to log in give it a whirl. Not only has my save magically disappeared, but the update it's telling me to do fails every time I close the game to continue. This is only the 2nd time I've had a save disappear, but this update bug has happened on almost every damn game I have with GFWL.
GFWL is shit and anyone who apologizes for it has only gotten lucky and dodged the shit bullets. But their time will comes. Buy/Gift at your own risk.
In my quest to decide if I want the Batman pack or Two Worlds II, I did an analysis of what else is on my wishlist to see what I have to look forward to for the rest of the sale.
Will almost certainly get:
Ys Oath
Jade Empire
Will almost certainly get if a flash/daily:
Sins of A Solar Empire Trinity
Magic 2013 (Sadly, not on sale at all or it'd move to the above category)
Will get if a flash/daily at <7.50 or <5.00
DoW II - Retribution (unlikely)
Dead Space II
Risen
Assassin's Creed II
Both LEGO Batman (Batman 2 unlikely)
So... going over my initial budget, but probably spending less than previous sales. That's good, right?
Also, I've heard pretty bad things about Civ V's AI. Considering I'm only interested in it for the single player mode that might be a big deal. Anyone have any thoughts on this?

Whoops!
This always happens with Ramses II. The NPC will hog them all, too.

I tend to play succession games against the AI and I'll say this:
They released a patch that does make it a lot better.
Diplomacy is still schitzo in my opinion, but it's an area of the game I've never been good at so I coul be wrong.

As someone who hasn't had problems with GFWL, hearing this is incredibly disappointing and helping me decide against the Arkam purchase. Your suffering may not have been in vain.
Can I advise people to avoid buying Ubisoft (or at the very least, U-Play) games.
U-play, hardly anything to shout about at the best of times, has been given an update that has disabled both the offline and online modes, and Ubi aren't in any rush to fix it (Sunday thing...).
If you buy any Ubi games, you won't be able to play them, so be warned.

Got home yesterday, noticed Sam and Max was the flash deal, tried my CC, declined.
Being in Canada where there are no Steam cards, I haul ass to 7-11 and buy a prepaid CC. $5 surcharge on a $35 card. Whatever.
Get home, try to buy Sam & Max, nope, declined. Check the prepaid card's site, doesn't recognize the number, and says it could take up to 24 hrs for funds
Got Civ V GOTY later in the night though.
I was declined the other day trying to buy clash of heroes. I called the credit card company and asked if I was on a hold for some reason and they said no. So it must be on steam's end. I just loaded up my steam wallet so I don't have to mess with that anymore and when that's gone, I'm done.

The recent patches have made the Civ V AI better. It builds a better economy (partly because it cheats, but eh) and a decent mix of units to defend. It does ok on the defense itself, though it could be more aggressive against siege units. It certainly goes in for kills now, and no longer leaves lone units up for ranged death.
It is still pretty bad at attacking you. It's hard to describe what exactly it does wrong, but it spends to much time within city range without closing in for the kill. It doesn't sacrifice 2 units for a city sometimes etcet.
The people who complain about it are the veterans. At the high end it shows, where you are playing against ridicilous AI advantages which they then fail to capitalize on which makes it very noticable. On medium difficulties, you may notice botched invasions but otherwise it'd seem pretty good.

A big shout out to the classy gentleman @TreadLife for gifting me Painkiller: Black Edition while I slept. I have had A MIGHTY NEED to pin the forces of hell to the wall with stakes.
The people who complain about it are the veterans.
Okay, that's what I suspected. Of course, I might well become a veteran one day, but at least that's something to deal with much later. Thanks for the replies!
Does Catwoman add a lot to Batman AC? I rented it on console toyboxes so I kind of have been leaning back toward getting it on PC since I didn't get to play those missions.
Kinda feel bad for asking about this here since i´m hardly an active member of this community, but is anyone willing to help me get Batman: AA? I'm thinking of trading it for some other games of equal value.

Fucking brilliant. Useless shits.
Seconded.
Somehow I managed to get HoMM 6 to play without going online with uPlay, but the game keeps crashing at random points that makes it somewhat unplayable.
I'm beginning to regret my purchase :-(

Glad to see I didn't miss anything while I slept! I may buy Arkham City at some point down the road, but not today. I've already played through the game on my 360, but I owned AA on both PC and 360 as well. I wouldn't mind playing it again with graphical improvements one day.
I wonder what the chances are of Trials 2 going even lower than it is right now? 75% off is a huge discount, and it doesn't seem like it could go much lower.
So what's the damage for everyone so far? Day 3 recap!

I apologize if I seemed a bit harsh. The GAME, Batman: AC, is hilariously fun and incredibly satisfying. My beef is with GFWL 100% because it won't let me get to that hilarious fun and incredibly satisfying content.

I've also been relatively good to my vow of cutting back on purchases. Total so far:
Ys: The Oath in Felghana
Saints Row the Third
Trine 2
Indie Bundle 2
Think back ye now upon the day
When first your mind perceived
My preview vid on your display
And thus your heart was thieved
For some small time your thoughts were filled
With what I had incited
The mere anticipation thrilled
Each slight regard excited
But when at last the launch date dawned
You lacked sufficient wealth
To purchase that for which you longed
E’en more than life itself
To find me in the next big sale
Was your ideal solution
But months went by to no avail
To your great disillusion
Onto the wishlist I was placed
An act of desperation
And so I linger, once embraced,
Now doomed to isolation
You’re fat and happy as can be
While gorging on your Steam
I’m just another casualty
A lost, forgotten dream
The explanation
I’m sure a lot of you have games that have been languishing on your wishlist forever. Wouldn’t it be awesome if, after months or even years of waiting, you finally got that game you’ve wanted since you first signed up for Steam?
The contest
Disclaimer: Contest open to G&T Adventure Team Steam Group members only, since they have already been screened for Russianism
Note: Hereinafter, the term “Wishlist Game Date” (or WGD) refers to the date a game was added to your wishlist
Send me a PM with the following information:
- The name of the game on your wishlist with the earliest WGD, and the date you added it
- A link to your steam profile
This contest will last until sometime-in-the-evening o’clock on Wednesday, July 18th. At this point, I will release a list ranking some number of submissions from earliest WGD to most recent WGD. The first 3 people on this list will receive the games in question.
If the amount I spend on those 3 games does not exceed, say, $50, then I will continue going down the list, gifting each person their respective game, until I pass that mark.
To keep things interesting, I will try to provide daily updates about what the current “earliest WGD” is.
Please note the change in the end date as stated above.
I thought it would be cool to have it for the whole Steam sale, but it occurred to me that people might be passing up some of these games when their daily or flash deals come up because of the possibility of winning.
As it stands, any WGD in 2011 has no chance of winning; I have 13 entries with WGDs in 2010, and 3 of them are The Witcher 2, so I won't be making it very far past those. The very earliest dates are still in summer of 2010.
