Alright I'm as pissed about Need For Speed Hot Pursuit winning the vote off. Just played some multiplayer with @Viking, @stabbity style, @DudeMaYn and a few others. It is nuts. Crashes everywhere and I got busted too often. Fun times were had.

Road block up ahead. Im in the back of the pack. The cops are all ahead of me and try to block off the road with their own cars along with the roadblock. VROOM RIGHT PAST THEM ALL. HAHAHAHA SUCK IT COPS.

I still got busted later. :(

What does NFS use for your friend's list? It didn't appear to pull them from my EA account, nor is it seeing Steam friends. I know on the 360 demo it pulled friends right from LIVE, but does it use its own separate thing on PC?

Friend confusion aside, the game is super fun and really fuckin' pretty.

Yeah it is its own thing. CorriganX there too.

Requoting real quick since it took me a sec to get the hang of it and no sign-ups yet.

Huh. I didn't get Stalker: Shadow of Chernobyl on Steam. I must have bought it for cheap at retail.

How good is Call of Pripyat?

I bought Unreal Tournament 3 since it was a decent deal. I am having trouble signing in to play online. I reset my password. I created another account and no luck.

Am I dumb, or are other people having similar issues??

    SAVE OR DESTROY!
I have two games to give away, but I won't tell you what they are.
In one, you will mainly destroy things, but maybe that will end up saving people. PM me the word DESTROY to ask for this game.
In another, you are trying to save the world, but maybe you are destroying it. PM me the word SAVE to ask for this game.

Tomorrow morning I will randomly select one winner for each game.

This is a neat idea. Looking at my library there's always a chance I could own the mystery game, but that's a chance I'm willing to take :P .

So I already have and have thoroughly enjoyed Recettear, so would anyone recommend either Chantelise or Fortune Summoners?
I haven't played Fortune Summoners yet, but for anyone that's curious about Chantelise:

I spent a lot more time with it than I thought I would, given that it doesn't have any of the wrapper that Recettear does. It's a roguelike/dungeon crawler that's (very loosely) in the format of something like Demon's Souls. It's not anywhere near as deep or difficult as a Demon's Souls, but it's a lot harder than something so cutesy has any right to be. You have a hub world and a set of dungeons that unlock as you progress. Each dungeon is a series of ten or so rooms followed by a boss battle, and you've got to get through it in a single life. Dying bumps you back to the hub world, but you don't lose anything. Your inventory works more or less like Recettear's dungeon crawling (though your equip slots are universal), and you can buy permanent health upgrades at the item shop. The thing that makes it sort of unique is the magic system. You pick up gems from enemies and the environment, which serve as single use spells. Red gem is fire, blue gem is ice, that sort of thing. You can carry six of them, and the one you cast is always the most recent one you've picked up. If you've got got multiple of the same color stacked next to each other, you can charge cast to do higher tier magic. 3 blue gems is a heal, IIRC. 2 yellow is a shield. It's largely a game of managing your gem stack to have the correct magic available in any given situation. There's also a treasure chest hidden in every room of every dungeon with unique loot, like crystals that change your weapon's attack pattern or boots that let you glide, and finding them is varying levels of obtuse.

It also has a fishing minigame, because of course it does.

The writing is every bit as good as Recettear. Like, I hate cuteness in all its forms, anime cuteness prime among them, but it's so goddamn charming that I actually enjoyed both of those games. Would totally drop the $2.50 on it if it sounds interesting.

Sim city 4 still seems pricey for a 9 year old game

Yeah and unsupported at that. EA, what can you do? They haven't figured out that they'll make more by lowering the price because it's past 'impulse buy' time for this game and they spend almost no resources to support it. There's another installment of the game due to come out next year too (hope they don't screw it up) so if you're not a Simcity fan, you may find a better place to get $5 of entertainment.

edit: I loved Simcity 4. I just know it's not for everyone.

Do you like STALKER? If yes, buy CoP right now. If no, buy CoP right now and then reevaluate your opinion. I actually prefer modded SoC, but it's by far the best vanilla game.

Based on the quick look, it's a pathetic imitation of Dragon Age more than a pathetic imitation of The Witcher. Then again, I sort of felt like there were a couple parts of Dragon Age that were a pathetic imitation of The Witcher, so transitive property.

Can this be run un-modded out of the gate? Is it spooky? Does it also have gamepad support?

SoC lacked two of these three things, which has caused me to put it off.

Pripyat is stable and fine without mods. It doesn't have controller support, and like other STALKER games it's a little too complex for it anyway, but you can always xpadder if you're set on it. Personally I thought it was not-at-all spooky with the exception of one section which turned out to be less spooky than I had anticipated, whereas I still have never cleared SoC's bloodsucker village.

    Yes. Yes. No.

You're not going to play a STALKER game with a gamepad. That's just not how those games work. The closest you'll get is Metro 2033, which is, as far as I know, gamepad friendly.

    Short answer? Russian Fallout 3.

You don't create your character, but it's a first person "shooter" set in a post apocalypse scenario with a heavy emphasis on RPG elements and inventory management.

The main reason I'm waiting until after the sale is over to giveaway my small (or let's just say selectively curated) stack of gift games is because I don't want to directly compete with the avalanche of classiness (classalanche?) that Gear is pulling out every day.
